HEAL your inflamed gut by keeping this HIDDEN culprit in check
You’re doubled over in AGONY.
And the worst part is… it’s not a one-time thing.
You’ve got a CHRONIC inflammatory condition that leaves your insides TWISTED and turned UPSIDE DOWN – well, figuratively, anyway.
Crohn’s disease doesn’t just cause pain and cramping in your belly…
But THROUGHOUT your lower GI tract.
It can be SO bad… you may completely lose your appetite.
Like other types of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), experts aren’t exactly sure what CAUSES Crohn’s…
Or how to CURE it.
But there is some research about a hidden culprit that can make the inflammation WORSE – one you may not hear about ANYWHERE else.
Hostile takeover
You know that an ESSENTIAL aspect of managing your gut health is taking care of your gut microbiome…
And you may THINK of that as just the bacteria that populates your gastrointestinal tract.
But there’s a subset of your microbiome that’s colonized by a DIFFERENT kind of bug – fungi!
It’s called your “mycobiome”…
And according to a 2017 study, a fungal imbalance may contribute to Crohn’s flare-ups.
Now, how does an overgrowth of fungus arise in your gut?
The answer is simple – antibiotics.
You know how taking these bacteria-killing drugs can WIPE OUT your “good bugs”… and let “bad bugs” take over…
And how that can result in yeast infections (caused by Candida albicans).
Well, it turns out that Crohn’s patients could be subject to an INVASION of another type of yeast, called Candida tropicalis.
That type of fungus CONSPIRES with two strains of “bad bugs”… one being the bacterium E. coli… to create biofilms that SHIELD the bugs from being cleared by the immune system.
While this doesn’t necessarily CAUSE Crohn’s disease…
It makes it A LOT harder to resolve it through your own natural defenses.
Even more recent research has revealed another type of yeast that tries to TAKE OVER the guts of Crohn’s patients, called Saccharomyces – one that’s extremely common in the Western diet.
So, making some dietary changes may help ease Crohn’s… especially keeping in mind avoiding sources of Saccharomyces, including processed bread and baked goods and, unfortunately, beer.
But that’s not all…
According to a study out of Cedars-Sinai, the AGGRAVATION of Crohn’s has even been linked to a type of skin fungus, called Malassezia.
That tells me that in addition to balancing your bacteria with probiotics…
A more aggressive antifungal approach could be needed to keep Crohn’s in check.
Some fungus-busting herbal remedies that have shown to help with IBD include oregano oil and thyme oil.
