THOUSANDS of years ago, one of the first plants that humans began to cultivate was garlic (Allium sativum).
Ancient medicinal practices in India and even Iran have used the “stinking rose” as a drug alternative for AGES…
And even today, garlic is SO popular around the globe… cargo ships SMUGGLE it across borders to avoid paying pricey tariffs.
Hippocrates, the father of “modern medicine,” determined long ago that garlic could be prescribed for MANY illnesses.
Imagine if EVERYBODY knew how garlic could help BEAT BACK one illness of epidemic proportions – obesity.
There’d be a MAD RUSH to control ALL the garlic cloves!
Today, China is a behemoth producer of this pungent culinary herb…
And a 2018 animal study out of China revealed how garlic oil helped SUPPRESS weight gain after subjects were fed a high-fat diet.
In fact, the subjects that were given garlic oil gained LESS weight than even those that ate normal chow!
Garlic oil also appeared to improve several other hallmarks of obesity, including…
- ratio of fat tissue weight to body weight
- liver volume
- liver inflammation, and
- lipid profile, including boosting HDL (“good” cholesterol) and lowering LDL (“bad” cholesterol).
Even better, past research has shown how garlic can help inhibit the oxidation of LDL – which is the one thing you really have to worry about when it comes to your so-called “bad” cholesterol levels.
A 2012 study out of Korea also showed how aged garlic extract could help post-menopausal women IMPROVE their body fat percentage… and even LOWER their BMI.
The key seems to lie in the sulfur-containing compound allicin, which is where that telltale garlicky smell comes from.
Allicin is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory…
But that’s not all.
Studies have shown how this garlic compound could SHIFT the body’s balance away from obesity-related white fat… and IN FAVOR OF calorie-burning brown fat.
You should be able to find aged garlic exact… steam-distilled garlic oil… or garlic supplements at your local health food store or online.
Note that “odorless” varieties are probably MISSING those stinky sulfuric compounds that help garlic work so well.
Look for a product that’s been standardized to contain a minimum percentage of allicin.
Or you can go straight to the active constituent… and try an allicin supplement.
Choose a capsule that’s enteric coated and will dissolve in the intestine — not in the stomach.
