As faithful readers know, e-Alert has warned for years that hormone-disrupting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)—which lurk in nearly everything, from paints, household cleaners (find out more here), to food wrappers, and takeout boxes—are dangerous to our health.

While the mainstream previously dismissed these concerns, new evidence confirms that chemical-laden food packaging as a major source of PFAS exposure.

Well today, the toxic truth is now so evident that even the FDA is finally taking action!

They recently announced certain PFAS types will be phased out of food materials over the next 18 months. (Excuse us while we take a small victory lap…)

Sure, it’s about time federal regulators challenged major producers of these dangerous substances. But this single battle is far from winning the war on “forever chemicals.”

You see, the detail Big Food hopes you’ll overlook is that they already started swapping older PFAS versions with supposedly safer “short-chain” types years ago. But emerging science shows those stick around in the body almost as much!

When buying pre-packaged snacks or takeout, choose places that use paper wrappings over plastic-lined containers. For example, paper sandwich bags or folded parchment paper.

At home, swap non-stick pans and common plastic containers for stainless steel, glass and ceramic ware to store and reheat leftovers. High heat can degrade PFAS-treated coatings.

Ditch decorative or waterproofing sprays for greaseproof paper when baking. Those aerosols likely contain fluorinated compounds. Unbleached parchment paper does the job without the health hazard!

By limiting your overall processed and convenience food consumption, you can reduce additive exposure from the wrappers. (Better yet—skip junk food temples altogether!)

But when you do indulge in grab-and-go treats, checking labels for PFAS-free messaging can help guide safer selections.

The bottom line is that WE must control what interacts with the meals we prepare. Our health is far too precious to leave to corrupted interests.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
