How ‘dirty’ air can DESTROY your heart
COUGHING… SNEEZING… ALLERGIES… even ASTHMA…
Those are all the “common” symptoms and ailments associated with breathing ‘dirty’ air – or air pollution.
But did you know that every time you inhale, that breath doesn’t only affect your lungs…but also your HEART?
Here’s what you need to know…
A study presented at a meeting of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), found that prolonged exposure to common air pollutants could trigger cardiac arrest!
Cardiac arrest is NOT a heart attack, but an abrupt loss of heart function, breathing, and consciousness… which requires immediate CPR, use of a defibrillator, or other emergency procedures.
The study found that the number of cases of cardiac arrest rose as exposure to air pollutants increased – showing that heart health and air quality do go hand-in-hand.
The pollutants that could lead to an increased risk of cardiac arrest include tiny particles called PM10s and PM2.5s and gases such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and benzene.
I know the phrase ‘air pollution’ may be a trigger – and I have ZERO intention of inciting a environmental debate.
But this IS a research-based finding which shows that, the BETTER the quality of air around you, the BETTER it is for your heart health.
Now, air quality isn’t something you can always control. But, fortunately, there are easy steps you can take to keep air as clean, and pollutant-free as possible.
One of the best things you can do to improve air quality in your home is investing in an air purifier. Air purifiers can help eliminate dust, debris, and other harmful particles… and many models these days run very quietly and efficiently so you’re not surrounding by loud noises.
You should also regularly change the air filters in your home’s heating and cooling system. Home improvement stores sell all kinds of quality air filters that help trap pollutants from going through the vents in your home.
And – now that spring has sprung – it’s a great time to change your filters, especially as your start using your home’s air conditioning.
To breathing the cleanest air,
