A ‘zen’ trick prevents ALZHEIMER’S?
Maybe it runs in your family…
Or maybe you’re already starting to show the telltale signs…
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) shows no remorse and can derail ANYONE’S life in the blink of an eye.
But, as devastating as the disease is… and while there is no CURE…
It doesn’t mean there aren’t steps to prevent the irreversible damage of AD.
Today I have new findings about how you can harness the power of ZEN to fight back against AD and save your brain.
And as an added bonus – it can do wonders for other parts of your body, too.
New findings published in the journal JAMA Neurology have found that practicing MEDITATION can help offer protection against Alzheimer’s – especially for those over the age of 65.
French researchers who led the 18-month-long study found that 20 minutes of daily mediation increased patient’s attention, awareness, and emotional health – all of which tend to plummet in folks with AD.
Because there’s no cure for Alzheimer’s, researchers continue to hunt down simple lifestyle changes that can positively affect the brain and protect it against long-term damage.
This latest study proves that meditation can help offer some protection – while also helping improve other areas of your health, too.
Studies have found that meditation can ease back pain, reduce inflammation, and help you sleep better (which is also good for the mind).
Here’s more good news…
The simple act of meditation doesn’t require complete silence – or an extravagant ‘Zen-like’ retreat.
Simply turning off distractions like your phone, TV, or the radio and engaging in some deep-breathing for a few minutes each day is a great way to calm your mind and body.
There are also easy-to-use (and free) apps like Calm, which is designed to teach you how to reduce anxiety and stress, sleep better, and check in with your emotions.
There is no affiliation with Calm or it’s developers; it may prove to be a valuable tool for anyone looking to start meditation.
Keep an eye out for this afternoon’s eAlert as I have news on another “calming” technique that can do wonders for your long-term health.
To calm and healthy mind,
Sarah Reagan
