A 5-ounce serving of this could KILL you?! (Study)
You are what you eat, right?
Well, if the findings of this study are any indicator, if you nibble on a specific type of food, you raise your chances of being SIX FEET UNDER!
I’m not here to scare you. But I will give you the straight truth about this deadly dietary group…
And why steering clear of it could set you up for a LONG and HEALTHY life.
Eating just five ounces of processed meat a week can significantly raise your risk of cardiovascular disease AND death. This is according to a Canadian research study.
You read that correctly… just five ounces A WEEK!
Now this doesn’t mean you suddenly need to become vegetarian.
Here’s why…
While the mainstream sometimes demonizes eating meat of ANY kind, this new study proves that it’s the processed variety you need to worry about… and AVOID.
Processed meats are any meats that have been modified in an effort to extend their shelf life or enhance flavor. Examples are hot dogs and canned ham that are preserved through methods like curing, salting, smoking, drying, or canning. This means they are packed with salt and preservatives to extend their shelf life… both of which can damage your heart.
The 10-year study looked at ‘meat eaters’ and found that folks who ate at least 150 grams of processed meat (which is just over five ounces) each week showed a 46% INCREASE in the risk for developing heart disease.
And, the risk of DEATH shot up by a whopping 51% compared those that did NOT eat processed meat.
But there is good news… especially if you love to eat meat!
Sticking to organic, grass-fed meats are your best bet when it comes to avoiding unhealthy preservatives.
Most grocery stores have dedicated sections in the meat department for grass-fed meats… including beef, chicken, and pork.
You can also search for any local farms in your area that sell meats right at their location. This is a great option to ensure you’re getting meat straight from the source!
