HIDDEN culprit could be WRECKING your blood sugar control

Without a trace

I’m talking about arsenic.

That’s right – the “king of poisons” and the “poison of kings,” which the US Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry ranks as their #1 health hazard.

A new study reveals how arsenic exposure can lead to 2 major hallmarks of type 2 diabetes:

  • glucose intolerance, resulting in higher-than-normal blood sugar levels
  • insulin resistance.

What the researchers found was that when arsenic UNLEASHES oxidative stress… it’s linked to the activation of a protein called NRF2 that spirals out of control.

Now, when NRF2 gets “turned on” and is working normally… it can protect your cells against oxidative stress. But in the case of arsenic exposure, it doesn’t get “turned off.”

And that somehow is associated with excess glucose production in the liver – which confirms what an animal study found in 2014.

Past research has also found that arsenic exposure could also DISRUPT the function of pancreatic beta cells – which explains the REDUCED insulin sensitivity.

Think you could never be POISONED by something as SINISTER as this infamous weapon of assassination? Think again.

If your drinking water comes from a well, it could contain unsafe traces of arsenic because of its proximity to the soil!

And even if you’re drinking from “clean” tap water, lead could be leaching into it from your pipes!

While the EPA limits the amount of arsenic found in the public drinking water supply… unbelievably, the feds DON’T regulate the amount of arsenic found in any solid food product!

That’s a problem – because arsenic too often CONTAMINATES soil in certain farms and fields of grain.

In fact, rice in particular is known as a “sponge” for heavy metals like arsenic. And that could spell bad news for folks who rely on rice as a part of their gluten-free diets… or rice milk for their dairy-free diets.

  • FILTERING your drinking water using reverse osmosis or distillation (but you may need to remineralize it to replenish essential minerals that have been depleted)
  • CHOOSING organic crops, which will avoid exposure to arsenic-based herbicides
  • AVOIDING poultry treated with antibiotics, which often contain arsenic, and
  • SWITCHING types of rice to a lower-arsenic variety, like from brown rice to basmati.
