For decades, we’ve been told that we’re putting our heart health IN DANGER by eating foods like red meat… eggs… and fat.

But we’ve been MISLED.

Because too many folks have faithfully followed that bad advice… and STILL suffered from cardiovascular events.

Some have even died. And they didn’t have to.

Now, the latest research shows that there’s a DIFFERENT type of food that puts us in the crosshairs for cardiovascular disease… and even death

And it’s a STAPLE of most Americans’ diets.

Find out if you’re eating THESE foods… and how they might be SKYROCKETING your heart risk.

Juicy news for your heart

According to a just-out study published in The New England Journal of Medicine, folks who eat foods with a high glycemic index are at GREATER risk of heart disease events.

I’m talking about strokeheart attackheart failure… and death from ANY cause.

In the study, this was true over the course of nearly a decade of follow-up…

Even if the subjects had ZERO history of cardiovascular events at the start!

And this increased risk held true no matter WHERE the subjects lived… or how WEALTHY or POOR their countries were.

This was no tiny study, either — but one that included over 100,000 subjects from countries throughout the world.

Now, which foods have a high glycemic index?

Well, it’s NOT the oft-maligned steak… omelets… or cheese platter.

It’s foods that SPIKE your blood glucose quickly when you eat them.

Think about starchy treats like breakfast cereals and bagels… baked potatoes… white rice… pizza crust… sugary drinks… and more.

That’s because our bodies break carbs down into sugarand at LIGHTNING speed.

On the other hand, our bodies take LONGER to metabolize protein and fat

And foods that are PACKED with those macronutrients have a LOWER glycemic index!

That may be why the Mediterranean diet… which LIMITS carbs and FOCUSES on lean meats and healthy fats… is so good for your heart health!

Now, not all grains are “bad” for your heart…

But the more REFINED the starch is… as is the case with white bread… the HIGHER the glycemic index.

You can find the glycemic index values of most common foods by searching online… or you can find printed guides at your local bookstore or at online retailers.

It’s not a “do or die” approach to eating… and certainly you should allow yourself a slice of birthday cake on your special day…

But whatever tweaks you can make to your diet could help IMPROVE your odds in the long run.
