Give your brain a BOOSTER SHOT… in the belly?
If you’re like most American seniors, you can’t help but worry about what might happen if your health DETERIORATES.
And I’m not just talking about your physical health…
But also your cognitive health.
If EITHER ONE starts to decline, you can lose your independence.
But when you’re no longer sharp as a tack…
You can feel like you’re losing your precious memories… and even your personality!
Friend, there’s something you should know – something your own doc may have NEVER shared with you.
Your ability to function “upstairs” is INEXTRICABLY LINKED to your physical function!
That’s why you can no longer ignore THIS part of your body… if you want to stay sharp well into your “golden years.”
How to FEED your brain
Last week, I shared with you how your gut bacteria can influence your mood.
But that’s just ONE aspect of the so-called “gut-brain axis”…
Because your microbiome is ALSO connected to your cognitive health!
And not just in your gut…
But as I shared with you just a few months ago… also in your mouth.
When “bad” bugs take over your oral health… it could lead to gum disease…
AND dementia.
Now, a new animal study out of Korea shows how to BOOST cognitive function by supplementing with “good bugs.”
Specifically, the researchers gave aging mice a type of probiotic called Lactobacillus fermentum…
Which is known in the bakery world for its ability to ferment sourdough!
In this study, subjects who took L. fermentum performed BETTER at certain tests, indicating INCREASED memory.
That included spatial working memory – a.k.a. not getting lost in a maze.
Even their motor function (including balance, like not falling off a spinning rod) improved!
And the treated mice seemed less depressed, too.
Now, this latest study suggests that supplementing with L. fermentum didn’t just BALANCE the mouse microbiome…
But that it allowed the beneficial bacteria to COLONIZE their guts, where it got to work.
Other studies have shown the ability of L. fermentum to ENHANCE immunity…
But it’s not the ONLY player in the probiotic game.
Experts typically recommend supplementing with a probiotic that contains MULTIPLE strains of Lactobacillus bacteria to cover as many bases as possible.
Look for one from a quality maker you trust that contains billions of CFUs.
To not BUGGING OUT over brain health,
