IGNORING this could make you LOSE your memories!
A lot has happened this year that most of us wouldn’t necessarily mind forgetting…
But when push comes to shove, our memories are the #1 thing we’ve got worth saving.
And most of us would do ANYTHING to make sure our precious memories stay under lock and key.
So, it’s CRUCIAL that we don’t rest on our laurels…
Or turn our backs on ANYTHING that might be ready to CHIP AWAY at our most precious possessions.
Here’s one simple thing you can do to STACK the odds in your favor against dementia.
SAVE your teeth… PRESERVE your memories
If you’re a little “long in the tooth”… you’ve probably experienced occasional gum inflammation at one point or another.
But for some older folks, dealing with those red, swollen, bleeding gums is a DAILY struggle.
And we’ve learned how gum disease can be the “canary in the coal mine”… as it’s been linked to heart disease… arthritis… and even cancer.
Now, a recent study published in the journal Neurology shines a spotlight on how gum issues can be linked to dementia.
I’m talking about gums that aren’t just inflamed… but also receding, some to the point where they can no longer hold onto the teeth.
In fact, the more severe the gum disease… the WORSE the odds are.
In the study, the 20-year risk of developing dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI) among toothless study participants was 20% higher than those in the “healthy” group.
This isn’t the first time that researchers have ZEROED IN on this association…
And the theory is that those “pockets” that form around receded gums… or in the empty space left by a lost tooth… are the PERFECT harbors for detrimental oral bacteria.
The scariest part?
Some strains of oral bacteria associated with gum disease have been found in the BRAINS of Alzheimer’s patients.
Now, you may still have all your teeth…
But it’s NEVER too early to take care of your gum health.
Do it for the sake of your precious memories.
You already know how you’ve got to brush every day. Just be sure to AVOID any pastes or washes that contain fluoride and/or triclosan.
Make sure you’re also flossing. (As my dentist says, “Only floss the teeth you want to keep.”)
Oral probiotics have also been shown to help fight gum disease by REBALANCING the microbiome in your mouth.
And if gum disease has already taken hold, there’s a strategy you can take – one that you’ve probably NEVER thought of.
Support your immune system!
Believe it or not, immune-boosting vitamin D could help you also MAINTAIN healthy gums.
To keeping your teeth,
