‘Royal’ berry WARDS OFF viruses – including pandemic-level flu!
They’ve been WARNING us for months.
It’s going to be a cold, dark winter, they say.
Isn’t that EVERY winter?
But it’s true, our immune systems may really be put to the test this year…
Because if they’re ALREADY fighting off ONE infection…
They don’t need ANOTHER one slapped on top of it!
This year, there’s been a lot of talk about BOOSTING immune function… and RALLYING the troops to fight off whatever new disease may come our way.
But today, I want you to focus on the devil you know – the flu!
You DON’T have to let it take hold… and you DON’T have to let it take you DOWN.
Because there’s a misunderstood dark berry that can NIP a viral infection in the bud… and PRIME your immune system to respond to much more SINISTER pathogens!
A cold, dark winter for your immune system
The blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) is a dark, tart berry that grows wild in parts of Europe and Asia.
It’s “jam”-packed with vitamins… including 4X as much vitamin C as oranges… and 2X the antioxidant power of blueberries.
In fact, it’s SO nutritious… it’s called the “King of Berries.”
Yet the feds found a way to BANISH it from this country… FOR DECADES!
You see, it got BLAMED for spreading a fungus to pine trees…
And then ERADICATED from our farms… produce aisles… and memory.
Fortunately, the feds lifted the federal ban on blackcurrants in 1966, after pine trees were bred to resist the pesky fungal infection.
But legalization is now up to individual states – and most of them still refuse to allow blackcurrants to be grown on their soil.
That means too many folks are still MISSING THE BOAT on this formerly forbidden fruit!
It’s NOT too late for you. Because I’ve got the skinny on how this “berry boost” can help you WARD OFF winter infections!
You see, blackcurrants pack a powerful antioxidant punch, thanks to a high concentration of no less than 15 different anthocyanins.
Those are the polyphenol compounds that contribute so much purple pigment to this fruit… its appearance is dark as night.
As I shared with you right here in eAlert, that dark color is an indication of blackcurrant’s ability to SAVE aging vision…
But that’s not all.
Those anthocyanins also help POWER blackcurrant’s ability to FIGHT OFF viruses!
I’m talking about the flu – even a “pandemic” strain like influenza A (a.k.a. H1N1, or “swine flu”)!
Now, research shows that blackcurrant’s antiviral activity doesn’t come from directly KILLING viruses…
But rather by INHIBITING the viruses’ ability to LATCH ON to healthy cells… and GET RELEASED from infected cells.
And it’s not just the berries themselves… but also the blackcurrant plant’s leaves!
A 2014 in vitro study showed that blackcurrant leaf extract was MOST effective against influenza A when it could INTERVENE at the earliest stages of infection…
And a subsequent in vivo experiment on mice showed that this same extract could REDUCE viral load in the lungs.
There’s even more that blackcurrant can do…
Because it turns out that the plant’s seed oil can help ENHANCE a healthy immune response…
It’s time for this king to take back its crown…
If you can find fresh blackcurrants locally, you can eat them uncooked – but because they’re so rich in vitamin C, eating too many can have a laxative effect.
Blackcurrant is also available in this country as a powder… capsule… or drink mix.
Blackcurrant seed oil specifically is also available in supplement form from quality makers at your local health food store or online.
And look for prepared teas made from dried blackcurrant leaves (and, sometimes, also fruit).
To sending viruses packing,
Melissa Young
