Are the drugs you’re taking right now for asthma or arthritis quietly putting your life at risk?

It can happen … but there’s a good chance you were never warned.

You see, mainstream medicine wants us to believe that these steroid prescriptions are “routine” and safe – but they come with a nasty secret.

They can sabotage your adrenal glands— and even trigger a life-threatening adrenal crisis.

New research shows us just how serious this is.

And you’ll want to take a couple steps now to keep yourself safe.

Glucocorticoid medications (often called steroids) include prednisone, dexamethasone, and methylprednisolone.

They’re prescribed for asthma, allergic reactions, COPD, autoimmune conditions, and even arthritis.

And here’s the problem:

Steroids mimic cortisol, the hormone your adrenal glands produce naturally. When your body senses high steroid levels, it slows or stops its own cortisol production.

Over time, this can leave your adrenal glands sluggish—or completely dormant.

Research from the Journal of the American Medical Association shows that glucocorticoid-induced adrenal problems are more common than we ever thought.

That means millions of Americans taking steroid medications for asthma, autoimmune disorders, or pain could be silently at risk, with their bodies unable to respond properly to stress.

Symptoms of adrenal insufficiency are often subtle—and nonspecific.

You won’t always notice it right away. And that’s the problem.

Fatigue, nausea and vomiting, and weight loss are the most common symptoms.

And things can escalate VERY quickly from there.

Adrenal crisis is a life-threatening condition that can cause dangerously low blood pressure, shock, low sodium, mental problems, or death if untreated.

If you’re taking glucocorticoids, ask your doctor for early-morning cortisol testing – especially if you’ve been on steroids for a while or are taking high-doses.

This can help spot problems before they get out of hand.

And talk to your doc about natural alternatives for your specific condition.

In the fall we wrote about a South African flower that worked better than common COPD drugs.

Adaptogens like ashwagandha, maca, and even licorice naturally help your body manage stress and balance cortisol.

And anti-inflammatories like ginger, turmeric, and bromelain help your body naturally heal.

Steroids can be lifesaving—but they’re not harmless. One prescription can quietly undermine your adrenal glands, leaving your body unprepared for stress, infection, or even a minor illness.

Don’t wait for a catastrophic warning sign. Get tested, know your risk, and be prepared.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
