You know me. I’m not exactly keen on highlighting MEDICATIONS

Especially ones that are designed to lower your cholesterol.

Because, like it or not, most mainstream cholesterol medications are blindly handed out to folks who don’t really HAVE “high” cholesterol!

Think about it… getting a cholesterol reading after eating a juicy steak will probably “elevate” your levels – but it doesn’t mean your cholesterol is shooting as high as Old Faithful.

And in the event that you do have high cholesterol, more often than not simple lifestyle changes (like a healthy diet and regular exercise) can lower your cholesterol.

But if you DO struggle with high cholesterol, I’ve got a “medication” you should consider.

Thin is, this one is NATURAL – and has been around for centuries!

Niacin is a B-vitamin that was discovered in yeast and meat nearly 90 years ago by American biochemist Conrad Elvehjem. At the time it was found to cure pellagra – a disease caused by vitamin B3 deficiency. It can lead to horrible skin lesions, diarrhea, dementia, and even death.

You won’t hear Big Pharma ever admit this, but niacin is widely considered the first ‘medication’ to lower cholesterol levels.

In fact, niacin has been used since the 1950s!

Niacin is made up of nicotinic acid and niacinamide. Both are found in foods and supplements, but each has a different effect on your body.

Niacinamide can help treat psoriasis and reduce your risk of non-melanoma skin cancer.

And nicotinic acid is the component of niacin that can improve ALL aspects of your lipid profile (aka your overall cholesterol ‘score’) …

Specifically, your low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (the “bad” cholesterol), your high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the “good”), and triglycerides.

In fact, when consumed regularly, niacin can:

  • LOWER levels of LDL cholesterol by nearly 20%
  • RAISE HDL levels by up to 35%
  • LOWER triglycerides by a jaw-dropping 50%

Niacin works by STOPPING an enzyme involved in triglyceride synthesis, which is a fancy term for carrying bad cholesterol into your bloodstream.

So, in other words, niacin ensures that your “good” cholesterol goes up… and your “bad” cholesterol goes down!

This balance of “high vs. low” is critical to long term health. Maintaining higher HDL cholesterol levels can lower your risk of heart disease, stroke and, in turn, keep your LDL cholesterol low, minimizing your risk of these deadly conditions.

Niacin supplements are easy to find at most health food or vitamin stores. If you are on any cholesterol medication(s), be sure to talk to your doctor before taking niacin.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
