If you’re like most folks, you probably assumed your thinning hair is just an inevitable part of aging.

Heck, I know folks who joke that losing their hair is almost like a rite of passage into old age!

I appreciate their sense of humor about it, BUT thinning hair – or balding – doesn’t necessarily have to be part of the aging process.

In fact, some research suggests it happens because a single lifestyle factor spirals out of control…

And it could be causing you to lose your hair!

Luckily, it’s completely preventable… and today I’ve got the scoop on how to get things back on track.

A study recently published in Nature found that obesity contributes to unwanted hair loss.

It’s no secret that obesity leads to a number of health complications like heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer.

But baldness? Really?

It’s sad, but true.

The study found that obesity, caused by diets high in bad fats, contributes to the depletion of hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs).

HFSCs renew themselves during every hair follicle cycle – which is how your hair continues to grow back and lengthen over time.

As you age, these cells falter and often don’t replenish themselves as well as they used to – leading to age-related baldness and hair loss.

And it turns out that obesity introduces certain inflammatory signals to your body that BLOCK hair follicle regeneration (even in healthy hair) … eventually leading to the loss of follicles.

Now, to be clear… if you’re already bald, switching diets and dropping pounds won’t magically restore your hair.

But, if you are starting to lose your hair, making healthy changes to your diet could help slow down the process and keep your follicles healthy.

Luckily, there are plenty of ways to prevent those unwanted pounds… without resorting to a fad diet.

I like a Paleo lifestyle (eating meats, veggies, and fruits – nothing processed or “man-made”)… and of course there’s intermittent fasting.

To keeping thick and lustrous hair,

Sarah Reagan
