BEAT BACK ‘brain fry’ with this kitchen staple
We don’t know EXACTLY what causes Alzheimer’s… and we don’t have an official CURE for the disease.
Not yet, anyway.
But don’t give up hope, friend…
Because what we’ve learned about the brains of Alzheimer’s patients gives us some very good clues as to what goes wrong when those memories begin to FADE.
And much of it comes down to the DELICATE balance of substances that make up the brain tissue… chemicals that help transmit brain signals… and nutrients that can help PROTECT and PRESERVE your precious memories.
There’s one ingredient that hits ALL those marks…
And its origins are as natural as can be.
In fact, it’s primarily found in something you probably have in your fridge right now!
There’s a fascinating substance found in egg yolks – one that could help keep age-related memory loss at bay.
It’s a type of fat substance that’s a building block of cell membranes… including those in your brain… called phosphatidylcholine.
But since that’s quite a mouthful, let’s just use PC for short.
PC is related to choline. And you’ve read before right here in eAlert how choline is an essential nutrient that’s CRUCIAL for keeping dementia at bay.
Your body actually uses PC to help produce the neurotransmitter acetylcholine – a.k.a. the “memory hormone.”
Unfortunately, our supplies of PC start to WANE as we get older… dipping by almost 10% after the age of 40.
And certain meds could make your PC levels drop, too — specifically, anticholinergics, a broad drug class that includes everything from allergy pills to mood meds and more.
They get their name from their action against choline – and, it follows, phosphatidylcholine.
And as it turns out, Alzheimer’s patients tend to have too-low levels of both acetylcholine and PC.
Although a direct cause-and-effect hasn’t yet been PROVEN in people, the association is strong enough to encourage anyone who’s thinking about preserving their precious memories to pay more attention to PC.
According to research, you can REGAIN some of that lost cognitive power… by BOOSTING your levels of phosphatidylcholine!
A 2019 study out of Finland found HIGHER phosphatidylcholine intake to be linked with REDUCED dementia risk… and BETTER brain function.
In fact, the dementia risk of participants who consumed the most PC was 28% lower than those who consumed the least.
PC does something else to benefit your “gray matter”…
It ATTACHES to the omega-3 fatty acid DHA… which is the ONLY way that your brain can readily use it!
Fortunately, you can find a supplement that COMBINES these 2 brain-boosting nutrients… both PC and DHA… like krill oil.
The label should indicate that it’s made from pure phospholipids… and NOT soy lecithin, which some folks have problems with.
