‘Milk molecule’ helps chemo patients RECLAIM the joy of eating
It happens all too often.

Lactoferrin was first discovered and identified as an iron-containing “red protein” in milk.
It’s found in highest concentration in a mother’s “first milk” – a.k.a. colostrum.
But it’s also found in regular human breast milk… and in dairy milk.
Since 1961, scientists have known that lactoferrin helps both DELIVER iron to cells that need it…
And SWEEP it away when you’ve got enough.
But that’s not all…
I’ve also shared with you before right here in eAlert how lactoferrin ENHANCES immune cell activity (particularly NK or “natural killer” cells)… which is key to its ability to FIGHT OFF infections.
And it turns out that BOTH the iron-chelating and immune-boosting activities of lactoferrin work together to help cancer patients BEAT BACK a common side effect of chemotherapy.
I’m talking about loss of taste and smell.
Turns out, the HIDDEN culprits behind these sensory deprivations could be salivary iron levels that are TOO HIGH… and a LOSS of immune proteins in the saliva.
But according to a study published in Food and Function in 2018, Virginia Tech researchers found that taking a 250 mg of a lactoferrin supplement 3X daily over the course of 30 days helped NORMALIZE iron levels and immune proteins…
And RESTORE the senses of taste and smell.
That doesn’t just improve the quality of life for a chemo patient.
It could help support their SURVIVAL!
See, chemo can RAVAGE a cancer patient’s digestive system… causing upset stomach and even vomiting…
And that can make their appetite VANISH.
Lack of appetite is why we often see such dramatic weight loss in cancer patients undergoing chemo.
But what you CAN’T see is that they’re also subject to DANGEROUS nutritional deficiencies.
Losing their ability to taste and smell the foods they USED to love could make it even HARDER for cancer patients to choke down food.
But changing the chemical composition of the saliva… and PRESERVING taste bud function… could help turn that around!
You can find lactoferrin in raw cow’s milk… or fermented dairy products like yogurt or kefir.
Unfortunately, many lactoferrin supplements out there are manufactured from GMO rice…

Look for a supplement that contains bovine (or cow-derived) whey. There’s a well-studied patented version called Bioferrin.
If you’re worried about getting too much iron, you can choose a product that’s been standardized to provide a certain percentage of apolactoferrin (as much as 95%)… which is lactoferrin after the iron has been REMOVED.
And try to choose a capsule that’s enteric-coated… as animal studies have shown that they could be absorbed 10X better than lactoferrin supplements without enteric coating.
