Germans discover diabetes-fighting force behind surprising ‘sweets’ ingredient
It’s one of the CRUELEST parts of mainstream medicine.
They give you a drug that DOES what it’s supposed to… but comes with BAGGAGE!
Too many pharmaceutical drugs SADDLE you with side effects…
Which FORCES you to choose between the consequences of TREATING your disease… and the consequences of NOT treating your disease!
If you’ve got type 2 diabetes, you know that your disease is too serious to ignore.
That’s why researchers are SCRAMBLING to find natural alternatives to diabetes meds – ones that WON’T cause serious side effects or carry MAJOR risks.
And they just might’ve found one.
Friend, NO single herb is a cure-all.
But one herb, licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra), has shown to be head-and-shoulders above many of the rest.
Licorice is so time-tested… it was used by ancient Egyptian physicians…
And in the ancient medicinal practices of Ayurveda (where it’s known as “mulethi”) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (which calls it “Gan Cao”).
You’ll find it used in TCM more than ANY other herb…
And not just for its ability to soothe your digestive tract.
This “sweet root” also helps EASE the symptoms of respiratory ailments, like sore throat and cough…
And helps relieve 3 of the biggest menopause complaints!
But licorice doesn’t stop there…
Because it also could help LOWER blood sugar.
Now, I’m not talking about the black or red licorice you used to find at the corner candy shop…
But the root of an herb that’s used as raw material for making some of those confections.
In studies, licorice root extract has not only DECREASED blood sugar levels… but also BEAT BACK insulin resistance…
And even EXTINGUISHED inflammation.
In 2012, a German research team discovered that one of the key antidiabetic compounds in licorice root is a group of substances called amorfrutins.
These substances appear to ZERO IN on an insulin-sensitizing gene receptor that helps regulate glucose metabolism, called PPAR-gamma.
That exact same mechanism is the MAIN target for a class of diabetes drugs called thiazolidinediones, which are considered “insulin sensitizers.”
Here’s the difference…
Licorice DOESN’T carry the risks of thiazolidinediones, like putting you in the crosshairs for a bone fracture… heart failure… or stroke.
This herbal remedy doesn’t even cause the MINOR side effects of TZDs… which can include headache, muscle aches, and symptoms of the common cold.
And while most diabetes meds don’t stop the PROGRESSION of the disease…
Licorice can help keep diabetic complications like fatty liver and nephropathy (a.k.a. kidney dysfunction and damage) at bay.
Now, the only way to get licorice that’s POTENT enough to help fight diabetes is by taking a supplement.
Look for one that doesn’t contain glycyrrhizin, a substance found in licorice that could upset your stomach.
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice is also known as DGL.
You’ll also want to keep your eyes open for a licorice root extract that contains a standardized percentage of amorfrutins… as a product like that will be formulated specifically for its antidiabetic action.
I haven’t seen one hit the shelves yet… but I’ll be sure to give you a heads up when I do.
To beating back blood sugar woes,
Sarah Reagan
