SCARY motor decline linked to THIS diagnosis
Friend, if you’re like many other older Americans, it’s not PAIN that terrifies you.
You learned to bite the bullet… and walk it off… AGES ago.
But there’s something else that instills a sense of fear in you – something that for some folks seems to “come with the territory” of getting older.
Losing your independence!
There’s nothing that can DRAIN you of your dignity like not being able to take care of yourself…
But that’s exactly what happens when Parkinson’s disease STEALS your motor function.
This neurodegenerative condition SEEMS to strike out of nowhere…
Unless you know how to recognize the signs and the early risks.
And it turns out there’s one early predictor of Parkinson’s – one that’s not only linked to the development of the disease, but also to its progression.
So, if you want to STAY OUT of its crosshairs in the future… here’s what you need to pay attention to right now.
Sugar crash
Earlier this year, I shared with you how too-low levels of HDL cholesterol (the “good” kind) have been linked to a higher incidence of Parkinson’s disease among seniors.
Well, the latest research out of London finds that there’s another metabolic issue you need to contend with to keep Parkinson’s at bay.
It’s type 2 diabetes!
Now, that doesn’t REALLY surprise me, considering how excess inflammation is a hallmark of both diseases.
But it turns out that insulin resistance… typically associated with type 2… could also contribute to Parkinson’s.
That’s because insulin plays a neuroprotective role… and can even help your body MAXIMIZE its use of the neurotransmitter dopamine.
And it’s widely accepted that a deficit of dopamine may be what causes Parkinson’s in the first place!
This recent meta-analysis reveals “convincing evidence” that type 2 diabetes could be a “driver” of Parkinson’s risk…
Increasing the risk of disease onset by 21%.
But that’s not all…
Because it could also lead to motor symptoms becoming more SEVERE… and more QUICKLY.
And a 2018 study previously showed an even STRONGER connection between diabetes and Parkinson’s when the diabetics were experiencing complications from their disease.
Now, Big Pharma has ALREADY jumped on this bandwagon… and has been working towards REPURPOSING diabetes meds to treat folks with Parkinson’s.
We don’t really know what the clinical trials will show… and it could take YEARS to find out.
Fortunately, you don’t have to feel helpless as you wait.
You can take measures now to control your blood sugar… and keep type 2 diabetes from taking hold.
Two herbs that have shown promise in lowering blood sugar AND increasing dopamine to fight Parkinson’s are velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens) and berberine.
You can find them in supplement form from quality makers at your local health food store or online.
To staying independent,
Melissa Young
