SHARPEN vision… and RESTORE tired eyes… with this Icelandic ‘blueberry’
If you’ve been experiencing eyes that are TIRED and DRY… or vision that’s FADING…
You might be worrying about how you can promote healthy eyesight… and keep eye diseases at bay.
You can reduce your “screen time”… and even wear UV protection when you go out during the day…
But driving at night might ALREADY be difficult, if not downright impossible.
And you don’t need anything else to CHIP AWAY at your precious independence.
Well, today I’m here to “turn you on” to a vision-supporting trick that couldn’t have a BETTER testimonial behind it.
It’s an “Old World” berry that might’ve helped the Allied Forces win the last World War.
Here’s what it could do for you.
Fighter pilot secret to better vision
You may have never tasted a bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), as it’s much more commonly found in its native Europe.
That’s where it’s been used for at least a MILLENNIUM in traditional medicinal practices.
If you were to come across a bilberry, you might think it looks just like a blueberry.
And it’s so closely related to our country’s most common “blue” berry… some folks call them “European blueberries!”
Picking them from the wild is a popular activity during berry season in Iceland… where they serve them with a side of Icelandic yogurt, called skyr.
But they’ve become INFAMOUS for an entirely different preparation.
Legend has it that British World War II fighter pilots SHARPENED their night vision by eating bilberry jam.
That’s not just a “war story”…
Because bilberry has REAL vision-boosting powers!
Now, clinical trials haven’t been able to reproduce what those Royal Air Force pilots reported in terms of their “secret to success” on nighttime missions…
But that doesn’t mean they were WRONG about how bilberry can support healthy vision.
Bilberry has helped patients OVERCOME glaucoma… by improving their field of vision and sharpness of vision…
As well as cataracts… AMD… retinopathy… and more.
A 2017 animal study out of Japan showed how bilberry REDUCED oxidative stress… and actually RESCUED retinal cells from light-induced DEATH.
And a 2015 study out of Japan on real people found that taking bilberry extract for 8 weeks helped ALLEVIATE eye fatigue… pain and discomfort… and “foreign body sensation,” a sure sign of inflammation and/or excessive eye dryness.
These weren’t just SUBJECTIVE reports from the participants on the quality of their eye health.
What they reported was ALSO confirmed by clinical measurements!
And studies like these confirm what we already know about bilberry…
That it’s a potent anti-inflammatory… and it packs some powerful antioxidant action, too.
Just like blueberries, they contain antioxidant pigments called anthocyanins… which give them their dark purple color.
They could even turn your tongue blue!
Now, you may be wondering why you should go to the trouble of getting bilberry… when you could just grab a bushel of good ol’ American blueberries?
Bilberries could have as much as 4X more anthocyanin content than blueberries!
Look for bilberry extract in supplement form that’s been standardized to contain at least 25% anthocyanidin.
There are a couple of patented extracts out there… including one from Japan, where nearly 30 years of clinical research has been coming from…
So, you might actually find a product from a quality maker you trust that contains as much as 36% standardized anthocyanin content… or more!
Bilberry is so safe and non-toxic, you can take it over the long term… for 6 months to 1 year… or even longer.
But there is an exception.
Bilberry could lower your blood sugar… so be careful combining it with any diabetes meds or blood sugar-lowering supplements you may already be on.
To a better berry,
Melissa Young
