What seems like new hope in the antibiotic resistance crisis is actually madness

Antibiotic drug development just took a huge leap forward.

Or backward, depending on how you look at it.

Researchers say they’ve come up with a much faster way to figure out which chemicals can kill bacteria. The good news is that this should shave time off how long it takes to develop new bacteria-fighting drugs.

But because we are so desperate for new antibiotics, they will inevitably be overused as quickly as they come on the scene.

And once the superbugs figure out how to outsmart them, they will essentially become useless to us…again.

Still, the Big Pharma machine will keep right on cranking out the product. It’s the only thing they know how to do. They don’t solve problems. They make drugs.

When this brilliant process is applied to antibiotics, it perfectly fits the definition of insanity: Doing the same thing, over and over, expecting different results.
