A new alternative medicine slam is nothing more than a celebrity blowing hot air to sell his books
10,000 maniac
“I can’t believe anyone would put a megavitamin in their mouth. It’s frightening.”
This ridiculous quote comes from a man who was also once reported to have said that babies could tolerate 10,000 vaccines taken at once.
Frightening? That’s terrifying! But here’s what makes it completely insane…
Those two statements come from Paul Offit, the director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
So one megavitamin sends him into a panic but poisoning a baby with 10,000 vaccines at once is perfectly safe?
Yes…this is a man who should be giving health advice.
Sadly, he is now giving more of it than ever. And the biggest risk is that some people will actually listen to him.
Offit his rocker
You’ve probably seen a lot of Offit lately. He’s been on morning shows, talk shows, and radio programs. Newspaper and magazine articles have featured his health “insights.”
Right now, he’s working hard, shilling his newest book that attacks alternative medicine.
In a U.S. News & World Report profile, he starts off with the number-one most clichéd falsehood about alternative medicine. He says “the problem” is that the alternative med industry is not federally regulated.
I think Offit is aware that alternative medicine is HIGHLY regulated. It’s regulated differently than the drug industry because they are vastly different. But to say there’s no regulation is simply false.
And I think Offit probably knows that. He’s no dummy.
But, as you’ve already seen, he does say some unbelievably dumb things.
Clearly Offit is on a mainstream rampage. He is likely tired of people challenging his dogma so he’s come out swinging.
So here is my challenge for Offit, I will swallow as many megavitamins as you will take vaccines. You pick the number.
Or if you want to go pill-to-pill…I will take as many of any one “unregulated” vitamin as you will take of any prescription drug.
Something tells me only one of us will be standing in the end…
