If you’re going through menopause, you know all too well the toll it can take on your body and mind.

Hot flashes, night sweats, and sleepless nights are just a few of the symptoms you might experience. It’s hard to feel in control when your body is seemingly doing everything it can to remind you of the changes happening inside!

Hot flashes, in particular, are an annoyance that can strike up to 15 times a day—making an already difficult transition even harder.

But now, new research has uncovered a way to manage those unbearable flashes of heat. And it doesn’t require relying on medication…

Before you scoff at it… let’s talk hypnosis.

Yes, you read that right. Clinical hypnosis, which involves a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, has been gaining traction as a real solution for menopausal hot flashes.

A new review presented at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Menopause Society analyzed over 20 studies and found that clinical hypnosis not only helped reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes but cut symptoms by a staggering 60%! That’s far more effective than cognitive behavioral therapy, another popular non-hormonal treatment.

According to David Spiegel, MD, of Stanford Medical School, hypnosis allows women to dissociate from the discomfort and mentally reduce the heat they’re feeling. During sessions, women are guided to imagine themselves in a calm, cool setting—maybe floating in a lake or feeling a refreshing breeze. It’s this mental imagery that has a profound impact on their physical experience.

In a way, hypnosis gives women the ability to rewire their response to hot flashes. And the best part? No medications, no side effects.

What about night sweats? Hypnosis can help with that too! Practicing self-hypnosis at bedtime has been shown to reduce the severity of night sweats, helping women sleep more soundly through the night.

Before you dismiss it as nonsense, think about this: The research is there. Hypnosis may sound unconventional, but science is backing it up as a valid, effective tool for menopausal women seeking relief.

But that’s not all…

If you’re looking for other natural ways to deal with menopause, consider incorporating supplements like black cohosh and red clover into your routine. Black cohosh has long been used to alleviate hot flashes, while red clover contains plant compounds that mimic estrogen and may help balance hormone fluctuations.

There are plenty of ways to take control of your menopause symptoms—and with options like hypnosis, black cohosh, and red clover, you have a natural path to feeling like yourself again.

Here’s to a cooler, calmer you,
