When it comes to “lowering” your blood pressure, can you guess what mainstream medicine says is the only way to do it?

If you guessed prescription drugs—you’d be right!

But the fact is that controlling—and lowering—your blood pressure DOESN’T always require a medicine cabinet full of pills or a super-restrictive diet.

Case in point, there’s a delicious grocery store staple that can help you lower your blood pressure… AND give you better overall readings!

According to a research study conducted by teams at the University of South Australia and the University of Maine, eating a daily dose of yogurt is associated with better and lower blood pressure for folks with hypertension.

Hypertension is the medical term for high blood pressure, and when left uncontrolled it can lead to cardiovascular diseases like a heart attack or stroke.

But this latest study found that yogurt is capable of reducing blood pressure.

Dairy foods contain a range of micronutrients, including calcium, magnesium and potassium, which studies have found regulate blood pressure levels.

In addition to these valuable micronutrients, yogurt also contains bacteria that promote the release of proteins which lower blood pressure!

In fact, the study found that, for those who consumed yogurt regularly, their blood pressure readings were nearly 7 points LOWER than those who did not consume yogurt.

There’s no arguing with those results!

Now, when it comes to yogurt, there’s no shortage of options… but it you should pay attention to the labels.

Many contain extra, added sugars that provide zero health benefits. You’ll want to avoid those.

Look for whole, natural, and—when possible—organic yogurts that don’t have added sugars or artificial flavors.

Yogurt is a great food to have for breakfast, or as a base for your favorite smoothie.

Just remember that yogurt is also very calorie dense, so be sure to only eat the recommended serving size.

To better blood pressure,
