The Mona Lisa is one of—if not the most—iconic and famous pieces of art in the WORLD.

But the next time you get a chance to gaze at the famous painting—you could be staring at an underlying condition that could secretly signal HIGH CHOLESTEROL.

Think I’m joking?

Check out this latest study linking cholesterol control to Leonardo da Vinci’s work of art…

It sounds outrageous, but researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) say there’s an important cholesterol clue staring right at us in the Mona Lisa.

According to the study, published in the journal Communications Biology, Mona Lisa’s hands reveal signs of a unique condition called xanthomas—which often means there is a presence of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH).

FH is a rare genetic disorder that causes elevated bad cholesterol levels in the blood, putting individuals at risk for cardiovascular disease.

FH is tied to a mutation in your body’s low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR)— which under normal conditions assists in regulating cholesterol.

But FH hinders the liver’s ability to manage cholesterol levels, leading to elevated cholesterol in the bloodstream.

As of today, researchers have used lab and animal studies to identify a number of unique compounds that could one day help treat FH.

Now, this ultimately means they could synthesize these compounds to make DRUGS.

Which leads me to my next point… (I’ve said it before… and I’ll say it again.)

High cholesterol DOESN’T have to be treated with DRUGS!

Yes, rare conditions like FH can put your body at a disadvantage when it comes to regulating proper cholesterol levels. But it doesn’t mean you need to run out and get a cholesterol drug, either.

For instance, chaga mushroom extract has been proven in studies to help lower LDL, “bad” cholesterol – without the help of a single drug!

If you do have FH, be sure to talk to your doctor about alternatives to cholesterol drugs.

To controlling high cholesterol naturally,

Sarah Reagan

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
