45% of Americans SKIPPING THIS daily routine (GROSS!)
The majority know it’s GOOD for us…
And science has proven that it’s one of the best ways to keep you GERM FREE…
Yet, a new study has found that nearly HALF of all Americans aren’t doing it!
Is it LAZINESS? IGNORANCE? Or both?
Today I’m diving into what most AREN’T doing to keep unwanted germs off of their bodies…
And providing you with a friendly reminder of just how simple – and effective – it really is!
According to the recent Healthy Handwashing Survey™ from Bradley Corporation, 45% of people admit that they DON’T USE SOAP when washing their hands!
Instead, they admit that they simply RINSE their hands under running water as a quick fix for proper handwashing.
YUCK! Talk about someone I wouldn’t want to shake hands with!
What makes that statistic even more disturbing – and disgusting – is that the study found that 93% of adults believe handwashing is ESSENTIAL to maintaining their overall health – a sentiment that’s nearly universal across gender, age, and geography.
Of course hand washing is essential. (Did we not learn anything from COVID-19?)
Thorough – and frequent – hand washing is your best defense against getting and spreading unwanted germs.
Sure, hand sanitizers work. But they’re really a quick fix that even studies now say can cause health issues when used too often.
All I know is that washing your hands diligently for 20 seconds with soap is the fool-proof way to keep your hands clean, and germ-free.
For many folks, frequent hand washing can lead to dry, cracked skin. If this concerns you, there are simple steps you can take to keep your hands both clean and hydrated.
Make sure you rinse your hands thoroughly (in addition to scrubbing them). Often times, soap residue can linger on your hands causing them to dry out. Removing that excess soap will go a long way in preventing dry skin.
Same goes for drying your hands. Make sure you’re getting all of the water off–especially around your knuckles and between your fingers. This is where water can sit and cause dryness.
So, when it comes to staying healthy, seconds really do matter. And in this case, just 20 seconds could help you stay healthy and germ-free!
To simple hand hygiene,
