LOW-SODIUM diets KILLING your heart? (Study)
SALT and your HEART…
Talk about two things that are portrayed as complete OPPOSITES – at least that’s what mainstream medicine wants you to think.
Friend, for YEARS they’ve been telling you that the mere sight of a salt shaker is going to put you on a fast track to high blood pressure and heart disease…
And if you do already have heart disease?
Well, they’ve practically given you the fanatical ultimatum that a dash of salt could send you to your grave.
Well, as usual… those salt scare-tactics are simply WRONG!
And today, I’ve got a study that proves the extreme measures being pushed to keep salt out of your diet are actually HARMFUL in the long run.
Plus, I’ve got the no-nonsense solution to keeping salt (and taste) in your diet without worrying that it will hurt your heart.
Yes, it’s common sense that eating TOO MUCH salt isn’t heart-healthy.
But mind you, the salt in your diet that sends your blood pressure through the roof and causes your heart to go haywire is found in processed, pre-packaged, preservative-laden foods like chips, frozen pizzas, and even some breads.
Sure, make those sodium-laced foods a staple in your diet and you’re definitely NOT doing your heart any favors.
And unfortunately, as a result, mainstream pundits tell you to CUT ALL SALT from your diet. (Mind you, these are usually the same people who pitch a pill to lower your blood pressure)
But findings presented at the recent American College of Cardiology Congress finally put to rest the whole idea the slashing ALL salt from your diet.
In fact, after examining nearly 10 clinical trial that compared low sodium diets to usual care in heart failure patients, it was determined that restricting salt too much is more harmful than beneficial.
Sure, if you have heart failure (like the study participants), eating absurd levels of salt won’t help… but cutting it out altogether won’t, either.
In fact, not getting enough salt has been linked to HIGHER LDL cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and INCREASED insulin resistance. And, extreme salt-cutting measures may increase the risk of DEATH from heart disease, heart failure, and type 2 diabetes.
Folks, it’s really quite simple. Cut the junk from your diet and you don’t have to worry too much.
Sticking to whole, natural foods like meats and veggies (with a little salt to season your food) is just fine.
Obviously, if you do have a history of heart disease or high blood pressure, be sure to have discussions with your doctor about your overall sodium intake.
To the truth about low sodium diets,
