LISTEN for this Parkinson’s sign (Study)
The effects of Parkinson’s disease are something you can SEE.
The tremors, difficulty standing, and involuntary movements are just a few of the debilitating symptoms that the innocent victims of Parkinson’s suffer with daily.
And to make matters worse, the VISIBLE symptoms of Parkinson’s are all very difficult to pinpoint for an official diagnosis.
But a group of Lithuanian scientists have honed on a clue that detects Parkinson’s BEFORE it sets in… and could set up a better path for living with – or STOPPING – the disease…
You just need to LISTEN.
A new study in the journal Applied Sciences recently reported that a group of renowned Lithuanian researchers determined that one of the FIRST signs of Parkinson’s disease to watch for is a change in SPEECH.
Physical changes are the most noticeable symptoms. BUT these almost always manifest when the disease is already in its advanced stages. This is part of what makes detecting and treating Parkinson’s so difficult.
However, this latest study shows that people with early-stage Parkinson’s tend to speak more quietly… and their speech is monotonous, slower, and more fragmented.
The study noted that these speech changes can be very subtle at first, and even difficult to detect with the human ear. But, as Parkinson’s progresses, the research team found that a patient’s speech becomes:
- MORE impaired,
- has MORE noticeable stuttering and slurred pronunciation of words,
- and leads to the LOSS of pauses between words.
There’s no cure for Parkinson’s, so there’s no magic wand that will dramatically reverse the course of the disease even if changes in speech are detected.
However, the study noted that this is an important step in EARLY INTERVENION – which can dramatically IMPROVE the life and well-being of folks with Parkinson’s.
The team that led this study will continue to examine the role of speech in Parkinson’s prevention and intervention – with the hope of even developing a mobile app that folks can use to monitor these changes.
In the meantime, there are natural remedies that can help you can live a full, fruitful life with Parkinson’s.
Take spirulina for example. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that grows in both fresh and saltwater… and is believed to be one of the oldest life forms on Earth
Researchers believe spirulina contains an anti-inflammatory compound called C-phycocyanin (C-PC) that works to combat the inflammatory response linked to Parkinson’s.
Staying active and moving is also a proven way to manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s.
Finally, if you have a history of Parkinson’s in your family, or are beginning to experience Parkinson’s-like symptoms, be sure to have a conversation with your doctor about a treatment plan.
