‘Underwater’ Breakthrough DROWNS Parkinson’s?
Parkinson’s disease doesn’t just make your life difficult…
It makes each day a grueling GRIND!
From the TREMORS…
To having difficulty standing…
And then the INVOLUNTARY movements…
They’re all just a few of the debilitating symptoms interfering with your daily activities.
And with no cure in sight, those facing this disease head-on each day are still looking for some RELIEF!
Well, I’m here to share some good news…
Researchers in India have unlocked a potential ‘underwater’ breakthrough that could eventually be a valuable weapon in the fight against Parkinson’s…
Potentially DROWNING the tell-tale symptoms of the disease!
Here’s what they found.
A team of researchers in India found that spirulina can improve Parkinson’s-related symptoms.
Spirulina is a blue-green algae that grows in both fresh and saltwater… and is believed to be one of the oldest life forms on Earth.
While algae may not sound appetizing, spirulina is packed with antioxidants and nutrients – making it a potent SUPERFOOD.
Research finds it beneficial for blood sugar control, gut health, and even cholesterol.
And now, thanks to new lab and animal studies, evidence shows that spirulina could one day be a potent weapon against Parkinson’s.
The research team exposed fruit flies to paraquat – a toxic chemical widely used as an herbicide – to induce Parkinson’s-like symptoms.
However, after treating the flies with spirulina, the flies experienced an improvement in locomotor activity. (Locomotor activity is your body’s ability to move and function smoothly and properly, which decreases significantly in Parkinson’s.)
Researchers believe this is due to an anti-inflammatory compound found in spirulina called C-phycocyanin (C-PC).
Multiple studies show that an abnormal accumulation of proteins in the brain can trigger an inflammatory response that damages the brain and makes Parkinson’s symptoms more prevalent.
However, based on these latest findings, researchers believe the C-PC in spirulina works to combat the inflammatory response linked to Parkinson’s!
It’s important to note that these findings between spirulina and Parkinson’s are preliminary, and that the studies were not on humans. However, the results are promising and researchers hope to expand future trials.
In the meantime, spirulina is a beneficial supplement that can support a healthy body. Spirulina supplements and powders can be found at your local health food store. Just be sure to only take the recommended dosage listed on the product label.
Finally, if you have a history of Parkinson’s in your family, or are beginning to experience Parkinson’s-like symptoms, be sure to have a conversation with your doctor about a treatment plan that works best for you.
To the on-going Parkinson’s fight,
