SWALLOW THIS to get rid of ‘brain burps’
Friend, you may be LAUGHING OFF those memory lapses as “senior moments”…
But cognitive decline isn’t one bit funny.
You don’t have to COVER IT UP with humor…
Or PRETEND it’s not happening.
Because there’s something you could do to support your cognitive health as you age.
In fact, there’s an anti-aging ingredient that could help keep your brain YOUNG!
It’s found the white “pith” that sticks to the “meat” of citrus fruits like oranges… lemons… and limes…
You know, the part we usually THROW AWAY!
Don’t let this brain-boosting substance SLIP THROUGH YOUR FINGERS.
Here’s how one man’s TRASH could be a TREASURE for your brain.
Strike GOLD with a ‘dumpster dive’
In 1828, a French chemist first isolated a CRUCIAL nutrient in the rinds of citrus fruits… which he identified as its “bitter principle.”
It’s not vitamin C.
In the 1930s through 1950s, scientists thought this “orange peel” nutrient was so closely related to C…. they named it “vitamin P.”
Vitamin P used to be a kind of “catch-all” phrase for the many protective antioxidants found in plants… which we now know as “bioflavonoids,” or just flavonoids.
There are 4,000 citrus-based flavonoids that we know of…
And the one I’m here to share with you today is called hesperidin.
It’s most commonly used to address issues with vessel health…
And I’ve shared with you right here in eAlert how it also could help older skin look younger.
But that’s not the only way that hesperidin could help BEAT BACK aging.
Because this nutrient could also help ENHANCE your cognitive health!
BDNF is like FERTILIZER for your brain cells!
In a 2014 animal study, researchers gave hesperidin to mice that had been bred to develop Alzheimer’s and observed REDUCED learning and memory deficits… and IMPROVED locomotor function.
Here’s where this gets really interesting…
Because the power of hesperidin may go beyond its already-established ability to keep blood flowing freely and banish oxidative stress and damage.
In 2017, another animal study found that hesperidin might work to benefit cognition by STRENGTHENING the connections between nerve cells in the hippocampus – a.k.a. the memory center of the brain – and with nerve cells in other parts of the brain.
Now, MOST of the studies on hesperidin’s cognitive benefits have been conducted on animals… and not on people.
But in one in vivo study, men who drank a hesperidin-enriched orange juice showed IMPROVED attention and executive function — both ESSENTIAL components of cognitive health.
And all it took for those benefits to take hold was less than 6 hours.
You won’t get much hesperidin from orange juice… unless you drink A LOT of it. And then, the sugar content could be counterproductive for the cognitive support you may be looking for.
And our bodies just can’t digest the pithy part of an orange rind very easily. (Besides, it doesn’t taste very good…)
The best way to get the amount of hesperidin you need… and in a form that your body can use… is by taking a supplement.
You can find one at your local health food store or online.
