Get a jump on juniper 

The African juniper tree (Juniperus procera) is the only juniper of its kind to grow south of the equator.  

As it’s taller than your typical juniper bush, it’s best known for its timber… which Africans use to build houses and furniture.  

But what you might NOT expect is that there’s also quite a bit of research on how it could help BEAT BACK cancer! 

In fact, Saudi Arabia’s practice of traditional medicine uses this type of juniper to treat all sorts of diseases… from diabetes to respiratory complaints. 

Many of its benefits come from its powerful anti-inflammatory action… 

But studies show it’s got even more to offer.  

A 2020 in vitro study showed how it could BLOCK the growth of oral squamous cell carcinoma cells… 

And in their EARLIEST stages of cell division.  

And a 2019 in vitro study showed juniper extracts to be TOXIC against colon cancer cells.  

The key may be in its content of a compound called deoxypodophyllotoxin (DPT)… which is also found in the common juniper (Juniperus communis) and may contribute to the anti-cancer actions of that plant, too.  

Podophyllotoxin (PPT) — widely used today as a topical anti-cancer treatment – was originally discovered to be a substance known as a lignan in the mayapple, (Podophyllum peltatum).  

But mayapples are in SHORT supply. In fact, I’m guessing you may have never even HEARD of the mayapple! 

So, finding another form of this cancer-fighter in OTHER plants is really exciting.  

Some research has even shown DPT to be MORE effective than established chemo drugs like etoposide and docetaxel against certain types of tumors! 

Now, juniper berries are nearly IMPOSSIBLE to eat right off the tree. It takes a lot of processing to use them as an ingredient in gin! 

But juniper extracts and juniper essential oils are available commercially…  

You just won’t yet find them standardized to contain a certain amount of DPT.
