Friend, you don’t need me to tell you that some prescription drug prices have SKYROCKETED.

I recently shared with you how remdesivir was projected cost COVID-19 patients THOUSANDS of dollars to take it…

And if you’re already on insulin… or need to have an EpiPen on hand… you may have experienced some of those SOARING costs first-hand.

Until recently, the one “saving grace” from wildly unaffordable meds has been generic alternatives

But as we’ve seen with the Rx drug Humira, drugmakers have been scheming to SUPPRESS generics!

Fortunately, there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel…

But I’m not talking about a change of heart on behalf of pharmaceutical companies.

It’s a shift in distribution of the drugs that, in theory, should drive prices DOWN.

And one MAJOR step in the right direction has already been taken.

The price is WRONG

The feds have been sitting on their hands when it comes to drug companies GOUGING prices

But now, it looks like there’s a way for state governments to step in. And it’s by taking control of generics.

California is the first U.S. state to pass a law allowing it to develop its own line of generic drugs.

At first, that may mean hiring a company to manufacture the drugs… and then taking over when it comes to pricing and distribution.

Here’s the kicker…

The state would operate on a not-for-profit basis.

Take the cash grab out of the equation…

And Big Pharma might no longer be able to keep patients… including those with diabetes… HOSTAGE with their price spikes.

At the very least, prices could become at least a little more reasonable.

Now, this law is brand new… and this type of deal has NEVER been struck before.

So, it could take a while for generic manufacturers to come on board and partner with the California state government.

But a little extra competition in the marketplace will surely help reduce prices. That’s just basic economics.

And fortunately, other states have already worked to CAP out-of-pocket costs on certain drugs, like insulin.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some states soon follow California’s lead in regulating how you’ll get certain drugs… and how much you’ll pay.

In the meantime, you can help keep your hard-earned money from FLYING out of your wallet by taking some simple actions right now.

First of all, TRY non-drug alternatives as a first line of defense. Before starting up on any new drug, check to see whether there are ways to alleviate or even reverse your condition naturally.

The BEST way to save money on prescription meds is to not have to take them in the first place!

If you’re already taking a drug that you can’t stop right away, you can…

  • REQUEST the option of a generic. When your doc checks off the box that says “DAW (Dispense As Written)” on your Rx, you’ll be STUCK with the pricier brand-name version.
  • SHOP AROUND for the best drug prices, which can vary wildly from pharmacy to pharmacy. The website GoodRx helps you compare prices and even clip coupons.

Remember to never go “cold turkey” with any prescription med – especially not without consulting with your doc first.

But there may be ways to EASE off certain drugs

Especially those that you might not need to be on in the first place.

An integrative doc can help evaluate your daily pill routine… and help you get off anything that’s not ESSENTIAL.

To not feeding deep pockets,

Melissa Young
