Ancient tree seed trick could FUEL the fight against cancer
Mainstream medicine has got us thinking that nobody’s found a CURE for cancer yet…
But what if they’re just not looking in the right places?
Conventional cancer therapies could send your energy levels PLUMMETING… THIN your hair… and SICKEN your stomach…
And yet after SACRIFICING your quality of life… and even your dignity…
You’ve STILL got cancer!
Meanwhile there are SO MANY natural strategies that show SO MUCH promise in the fight against this disease…
But they’re not getting nearly the amount of attention that they should be.
Here’s one OVERLOOKED ingredient from traditional medicine that cancer researchers SHOULD be focusing more on.
Shelter from the storm of cancer?
Karanja (Pongamia pinnata) is an “oil tree” that you could find growing wild in the swamps of Cambodia… or the wet forests of Bangladesh… and many other remote locations throughout Southeast Asia.
It can be harvested for its oil, which is used as biofuel…
But in cities and neighborhoods, this leafy tree is often planted to provide shade and protection from the sun.
Also known as the Indian beech tree, its legumes, sprouts, and seeds have been a part of Ayurvedic medicine for ages…
Including as a therapy to help fight various types of cancer.
But what does modern science show about this member of the pea family?
Well, actually… the research so far has been pretty promising.
In vitro studies have shown karanja seed extract to have activity against breast cancer and cervical cancer cells…
And a 2019 study out of India revealed 2 compounds found in karanja that seem to have the most cancer-fighting potential.
Both compounds… pongapin and karanjin… appear to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis (a.k.a. “cell suicide”)…
And according to that study, pongapin seems to have the added benefit of DAMAGING the DNA of cancer cells to stop them in their tracks.
In a 2015 in vitro study, Chinese researchers found that karanjin could also be an effective tool against 3 other types of human cancer cells – lung, liver, and blood cancer.
But again, that research happened in a lab dish… and not in people.
A 2011 animal study out of India revealed karanjin’s role as an antioxidant and Na+/K+-ATPase inhibitor…
And other research has shown how BOTH of those mechanisms can help beat back cancer.
Even better, an animal study out of China published just last month showed how karanjin kept colon cancer development at bay…
And it worked by INHIBITING the formation of aberrant crypt foci, a precursor to colon polyps.
As a result, there was a REDUCED number of colon lesions…
And study subjects showed ELEVATED levels of antioxidants like catalase, glutathione, and superoxide dismutase (SOD).
But even though we don’t have in vivo clinical trials on real cancer patients yet, remember that Ayurveda has been using this natural cure for AGES.
It certainly seems that they were onto something!
If you’d like to try karanja for yourself… sometimes known by its scientific synonyms Millettia pinnata and Pongamia glabra… check with an integrative doc who’s well-versed in Ayurvedic practices first.
The most widely available karanja supplement is Dr. Wakde’s karanja powder, which you can order online.
