You see, LOCKED away in the root bark of this shrub is a cancer-killing plant compound called falcarindiol, or FAD for short.
In a 2012 study out of the University of Chicago, this compound KILLED colon cancer cells… with ZERO harm to the surrounding healthy cells.
It worked by inducing a type of stress involving a tiny part of cells known as the endoplasmic reticulum, which produces proteins.
Cancer cells get a little overzealous with their protein production… much more so than “normal” cells… so they’re particularly susceptible to ER stress.
According to the study’s authors, when this stress is enough to OVERWHELM the cancer cells, they “off” themselves in a process known as apoptosis (a.k.a. “cell suicide”).
But that’s not all…
Because another compound… a potent antioxidant called oplopantriol A (OPT)… has ALSO shown promise against colon cancer cells and tumors.
And in a 2014 study on mice, devil’s club extracts didn’t JUST show anti-cancer activity against a type of blood cancer called acute myeloid leukemia…
