Could this ‘royal grass’ put the KIBOSH on pee problems?
It’s the “canary in the coal mine” that nearly every person has learned to listen to.
You know what I’m talking about…
Discomfort when you pee.
Whether it’s burning or stabbing pain during urination… you KNOW it’s bad news.
And nobody’s got to tell you to do something about it, pronto – BEFORE it gets worse.
That’s why it’s important to have an arsenal of weapons against urinary problems, right at your fingertips.
Because you don’t want to WAIT to see a doc. Not if there’s something you can do about it right now.
Even better, what if there were a way to NEVER have to worry about your urinary tract again?
It could be possible, thanks to a type of “sweet grass” that’s totally natural… and backed by science.
A healing juice with a sweet secret
You may have heard of “cane sugar”…
But what do you know about the tropical plant it comes from, sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum)?
Around 70% of the world’s sugar supply comes from this bamboo-like plant – both unrefined “brown sugar” and the refined white stuff you’ll find in packets at the coffee counter.
Sugarcane is also used to make rum!
What may surprise you is that this “sugar plant” is a member of the grass family. In fact, its nickname in Sanskrit is “Truna Raja,” which translates to mean “King of Grasses”!
Some of the earliest Sanskrit medical texts mention sugarcane…
And the ancient medicinal practice of Ayurveda has used its roots and stems to treat urinary tract infections for AGES.
In juice form, sugarcane has traditionally demonstrated many health-promoting qualities that could benefit your urinary system.
In India, they call sugarcane juice a “healing elixir”… and it’s so beloved in both Pakistan and Egypt, both countries have named it their official national drink!
These actions… which Ayurvedic medicine has well documented… include…
- ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: This cooling herb can relieve burning sensations.
- DIURETIC: Improving urine flow can help clear kidney stones and UTIs.
- PURIFYING: It sweeps toxins out of your entire urinary tract and organs like your kidneys and liver.
- BALANCING: As it is alkaline in nature, it can offset excess acidity.
Now, you may be wondering what MODERN science has to say about sugarcane… and whether the theories behind these ancient Eastern medicinal practices hold any water.
Well, for starters, several recent studies have revealed the antioxidant capacity of sugarcane, as it contains flavones and phenolic acids such as caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid.
And fighting free radical damage and oxidative stress is one of the best ways to keep ANY system in your body running smoothly.
That appears to be especially true for UTIs.
But research has ALSO shown that sugarcane possesses antimicrobial power – particularly against bacteria like E. coli (the most common cause of UTIs) and fungi like Candida albicans (the culprit behind many “yeast infections”).
If you’re worried about the glucose-spiking dangers of drinking “sugar juice,” you’ll be relieved to know that sugarcane juice actually contains about 70% water… 10% fiber… and no more than 15% sugar!
That means it has a low glycemic index (GI). But because it DOES contain sugar, diabetics should avoid it as they would any fruit juice.
Now, in India, you can buy freshly-squeezed sugarcane juice at roadside stands – but that’s not the case in this country.
Fortunately, it’s possible to find fresh sugar cane at some specialty produce markets and press it at home with your own juicer or blender. You can find instructions and recipes online.
You might be tempted to buy mass-marketed sugarcane juice packaged in a bottle or can, which you can occasionally find from Latin American specialty grocers (sold under brands like Goya)…
But according to Ayurveda, heavily processing the juice degrades many of its health benefits.
Instead, look for small batch, artisanal offerings… either at your local juice bar or from cold-pressed brands with no added sugar, like Geevani.
