Hindu scripture refers to hemp as “sacred grass.”
Chinese emperors began to use it as medicine over 3,000 years ago, as mentioned in ancient manuscripts.
Millennia later, the most famous Arab and Greek physicians followed suit, using hemp for its anti-inflammatory and painkilling properties.
But hemp has a fatal flaw…
It’s TOO useful – in medicine, agriculture, and industry.
American hemp crops flourished in the mid-1800s… during the Civil War… and through World Wars I and II.
You can eat it… but you can also use it to make paper, clothing, rope, and even building materials.
Industrialists were running scared as hemp encroached on their market share…
And a SMEAR CAMPAIGN was launched.
They riled the public up about the psychoactive effects of hemp.
Only – there are NO psychoactive effects of hemp, because it’s NOT a narcotic!
It shares the same scientific name as marijuana…
But the scientific differences between them are so MAJOR, they SHOULD be classified as two separate plants.
When Nixon launched his “War on Drugs” with the signing of the Controlled Substances Act in the 1970s, hemp got lumped in with marijuana.
And conveniently, banning hemp allowed for the rise of synthetic fibers and fabrics(like Du Pont’s nylon).
Today, hemp is STILL embattled in a case of mistaken identity.
Here’s the truth you need to know…
Hemp contains miniscule amounts of THC– not enough to get you “high” by any stretch of the imagination.
While hemp and cannabis both contain cannabidiol, CBD isn’t the ONLY phytocannabinoid in hemp.
There are over 100 of them!
And they all work together to activate our endocannabinoid system(ECS) – the “missing link” in achieving natural pain relief.
Cannabinoids bind to receptors in the brain (and other areas of the central and peripheral nervous systems) and, in response, release neurotransmitters.
Those can make you feel euphoric… but they can also make you feel less pain.
