Did I Hear That Right?

It’s been 40 years since the Surgeon General issued the first report on the health risks associated with smoking cigarettes. Marking that anniversary last week, CBS news reported on a new study that reveals women to be at almost three times greater risk of developing smoking-related lung cancer than men are.

In the report that appeared on the CBS web site, this statement made me do a double-take:

“Despite great strides in raising awareness of this fact, more women will die of lung cancer this year than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined.”

You know the fight against cancer is going even worse than we thought when women start getting prostate cancer.
