The vision-boosting food you’re NOT eating?
When you think of “superfoods” for your vision, what comes to mind?
Most folks know that carrots are certainly at the top of the list! They are loaded with vision-supporting beta-carotene, so if you’re looking for vision support you should be gobbling these up like your Bugs Bunny.
BUT new research has unveiled another vision-boosting food you might not be eating…
And, if you ask me, this one tastes better than carrots!
Grapes are at the top of the totem pole when it comes to superfoods. I eat a heaping handful every chance I get—because they’re DELICIOUS.
And now a study, published in the journal Food & Function, says eating grapes can do wonders for your VISION by enhancing key markers of better eye health.
This latest study—which was supported by the California Table Grape Commission—looked at grapes and the link that eating them had to critical factors associated with healthy eyes and overall better vision.
Study participants were divided into two groups—one consuming one and a half cups of grapes daily, while the other consumed a placebo over a span of 16 weeks.
The grape group saw a significant INCREASE in three eye health markers compared to the placebo group:
- Macular pigment optical density (MPOD)
- Plasma antioxidant capacity
- Total phenolic content
Low levels of these eye markers are caused by INFLAMMATION. But grapes are packed with high levels of antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress and lower…
You guessed it… inflammation!
So, the more grapes you can eat… the better your eyes will be over the long haul.
You can also supplement a healthy diet (with grapes) with vision boosting supplements lutein and zeaxanthin for to keep inflammation of your eyes at a minimum.
Lastly, don’t forget (or skimp) on those routine visits with your eye doctor. While it’s not everyone’s favorite appointment, the technology used in today’s eye tests is really remarkable and can look deep inside your eyes to detect any abnormalities that can’t be picked up with a classic vision test.
