(NEW) Lifesaving benefit to getting your “steps”
I swear…
People these days seems to track their “steps” more keenly than they keep track of their own kids!
And with all the fancy smartwatches and fitness trackers available these days, who can blame them?!
Getting in your steps is great for your mind and body. But a new study has revealed another benefit to getting in your daily movement…
And reaping the rewards doesn’t require as many “steps” as you’d think!
A study out of the University of Connecticut discovered a new, major health benefit to walking.
Researchers found that getting roughly 3,000 steps total per day, can significantly REDUCE high blood pressure occurrence among older adults.
With 10,000 steps per day seemingly being the benchmark for “movement”, 3,000 steps per day doesn’t seem that daunting…
Especially if it can help lower your blood pressure… AND reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke!
Now, being active and getting physical activity is a no-brainer when it comes to maintaining a healthy heart.
But don’t get fixated on the EXACT number of “steps” each day!
Fitness trackers, step counters, and pedometers are all great wearable technology that can help keep you motivated.
Set a goal, and do your best to stick with it. But, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t always “hit” that mark.
Because the bottom line? Just get up and MOVE!
If you’re new to getting exercise—or have trouble beginning a routine—daily walks are a great way to get started. And if you happen to wear a step counter, you’ll be shocked at how little it takes to get to 3,000 steps.
And if you’re already engaged in an exercise routine—keep it going!
