Edible “gold” LOWERS high cholesterol (No statins?)
Friend, let’s face it…
The “gold” standard to lowering CHOLESTEROL is a bottle of statins.
At least that’s what the mainstream believes!
But today, I’ve got another type of “gold” that bucks their statin-based approach to lowering cholesterol!
Chaga mushrooms are not the typical mushroom you’ll see in the produce section.
They’re actually a type of fungus that grows mainly on the bark of birch trees found in the frigid climates of Northern Europe, Siberia, Russia, Korea, and Northern Canada.
Only one out of every 4,000 birch trees will have chaga mushrooms growing on it… which makes them nearly impossible to grow here in the States. Spotting a chaga mushroom in the wild is sometimes so rare, they are often referred to as “black gold.”
But today, chaga mushrooms are no longer a secret and are, in fact, beginning to gain more mainstream popularity…
Especially when it comes to regulating and controlling cholesterol.
Chaga mushrooms contain many antioxidants—particularly polysaccharides—that have been linked to reducing your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which is considered the “bad” cholesterol.
Consuming foods rich in polysaccharides helps your body absorb less cholesterol via the intestines… which in turn helps your body retain less of the LDL cholesterol.
And chaga mushrooms are no exception!
During a two-month animal study, chaga extract reduced LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides.
Additional animal studies on chaga also yielded similar results… with it not only helping reduce overall “bad” cholesterol levels, but also increasing “good” (HDL) cholesterol levels!
Talk to your doctor about chaga to see if it’s a viable alternative to taking statins for managing your cholesterol.
The most common forms of chaga are in the forms of tea, powder, and capsule—all of which can be found at most health food stores or online vitamin and wellness retailers.
To an alternative to statins,
Sarah Reagan
