Cozy gadget unlocks your NATURAL sleep hormone
Did you know that Americans spend over $40 BILLION on sleep aids and remedies!
That’s right… people are breaking the bank for expensive mattresses, luxury sheets, and plush pillows.
But for most folks… they DON’T seem to help them sleep better!
Now, I’m not here to shamelessly peddle another sleep product…
But I do want to share some research on a cozy gadget that could help unlock your body’s NATURAL sleep hormone…
A study published in the Journal of Sleep Research has found that utilizing weighted blankets can increase your body’s production of the sleep hormone, melatonin.
Your body’s natural melatonin levels can decline gradually as you age, making it harder to get into that optimal “sleep zone.”
But this latest study found that sleeping with a weighted blanket naturally increased melatonin levels as much as 30%—compared to sleeping with a light blanket or sheet.
A note about the study, researchers conducted these sleep tests on young adults. But there’s no reason the benefits of a weighted blanket wouldn’t apply to older persons, too. (Especially since us older folks have a harder time producing melatonin!)
Oh, and another benefit to a weighted blanket? The study found that it can help you produce more oxytocin — a.k.a. the “love hormone.”
Shop around and do your research on weighted blankets.
There is a wide range of prices—and quality. So, be sure to only purchase a blanket you are comfortable with (and it doesn’t hurt to find one with a good return policy in case it’s not for you).
Don’t forget that you can also take a natural melatonin supplement, too. These can easily be found in the vitamin aisle at your local pharmacy and big box stores like Target or Walmart.
I prefer the type that dissolves under your tongue. Regardless, if you’re thinking of supplementing with melatonin, stick with the dosage on the product label… and if you haven’t taken it before, you can even start with half the dosage.
To getting better sleep,
Sarah Reagan
