Fight COLON CANCER with help from “Popeye”
When it comes to the litany of cancers that are out there, colon cancer is one of the most aggressive – and DEADLIEST – cancers.
In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), colon cancer is now the THIRD leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States!
And the risk only INCREASES as you age…
Routine screenings and checkups are the best way to detect issues or abnormalities in your colon that could lead to cancer.
But you can also fight back with a little help from “Popeye”, too!
Do you remember the famed sailor man cartoon, Popeye? He started out as a character in a comic strip, and is well-known for getting strong and mighty from eating a can of…
Spinach!
And while Popeye ate spinach to keep his muscles big, spinach is also GREAT at keeping your colon strong and healthy!
According to a study out of Texas A&M University, eating SPINACH significantly REDUCES your risk of colon cancer.
It’s no secret that spinach is one of the best foods you can eat for your overall health. But how does it help stave off colon cancer?
The study found that eating spinach regularly inhibits the growth of colon polyps – a small clump of cells that form on the lining of the colon or rectum.
While some polyps are harmless, many develop into cancer… which in turn requires major surgery of the colon.
But spinach can stop polyps before the take shape… significantly reducing your risk of ever getting colon cancer.
In fact, the study found that eating spinach can reduce the risk of colon cancer by as much as HALF!
And when it comes to eating spinach, there’s no right or wrong way to eat it. Whether you like it raw… or prefer the frozen variety… it’s good for you and your colon!
Again, staying on top of your colon health through regular screenings and exams (especially if you’re over the age of 50) is the best preventive measure you can take to prevent colon cancer.
But taking a little of Popeye’s advice also help!
