Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays were full of friends and fun.

Now that we’ve rung in 2023, you might be thinking about New Year’s “resolutions” that involve making some healthier choices with your DIET.

Maybe eating less carbs… or eating less FAT?

But for long-standing readers of eAlert, you already know that not all fats are created equal… and that certain fats in your diet are actually GOOD FOR YOU!

And today I’ve got MORE research confirming that FAT is good for you… and that it can actually ADD FIVE YEARS TO YOUR LIFE!

According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, eating high level of omega-3 fatty acids (especially in oily fish like salmon) can contribute to a lifespan five years LONGER than the norm.

Researchers even found that increasing your omega-3 levels just 1% reduces your risk of death just as much as quitting smoking!

Simply put, FAT can literally add five years to your life!

Now, the health benefits of omega-3s are well documented, so this news should come as no surprise…

But the study also found that four types of fatty acids contribute positively to human life expectancy — including two SATURATED fatty acids!

This is important because most mainstream experts continually vilify saturated fats of any kind… even though research shows that fat in your diet helps you stay healthy.

Now, let me be clear…

These new findings are not a license to start eating gobs of fat each-and-every day… but simply validation that eating ‘good’ fats on a consistent basis is beneficial for your overall health and longevity.

Eating fatty fish like salmon 1-2 days each week is a great (and tasty) way to ensure you’re getting enough omega-3s in your diet.

If you’re not keen on the taste of fish, you can also take omega-3 supplements. They are easily found at most grocery stores, pharmacies, and health food stores.

Your best bet when hunting for supplements is to look for reputable brands that are made from sustainably caught fish and go through rigorous testing (which is usually noted on the label).

To the good fats,

Sarah Reagan
