Your doc tells you that you’re in the crosshairs for type 2 diabetes…

And that taking a blood sugar-lowering drug could help keep you out of the disease’s clutches.

Friend, that’s not your ONLY option.

Even if you’ve tried to LOWER your blood sugar by other means… like changing your diet…

There’s something ELSE that could help.

And rather than DRAINING your wallet with copays… it could cost just PENNIES a day!

Even better, it’s got a track record of traditional use that’s been THOUSANDS of years in the making.

You may be surprised to find out that a little-known berry, called barberry (Berberis vulgaris), could actually help BEAT BACK diabetes!

There are many varieties of barberry used for their medicinal benefits around the world…

Including by Ancient Egyptians… Ayurvedic healers… and even Native Americans in this country!

Barberry is PACKED with plant chemicals (called “alkaloids”) with antioxidant action…

But the MOST POTENT one when it comes to diabetes is called berberine.

I’ve shared with you before right here in eAlert how berberine could help support cognitive health…

And it’s not uncommon for brain-boosting nutrients to also have an effect on blood sugar.

After all, Alzheimer’s disease has been nicknamed “type 3 diabetes”!

Turns out, berberine also helps SLAM THE BRAKES on glucose production in the liver…

INHIBIT the breakdown of starch into sugar (through the action of the enzyme alpha-glucosidase)…

And INCREASE insulin sensitivity!

The result?

LOWER fasting blood glucose and HbA1c.

According to a 2015 review of studies, its action is COMPARABLE to diabetes meds… like metformin and sulfonylureas!

Even better, a 2021 animal study found that taking berberine helped bring type 2 diabetes to a SCREECHING HALT in 70% of the prediabetic subjects with impaired glucose tolerance.

Compare that to the placebo group… where 100% of the subjects developed diabetes!

And a team of Chinese authors have proposed that because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action… it could also help ALLEVIATE diabetic complications…

Like diabetic nephropathy… diabetic neuropathy… and diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Now, you can find barberry supplements at your local health food store or online. Just make sure they’ve been standardized to contain a certain minimum percentage of alkaloids (or specifically berberine).

Your other option is to supplement with berberine directly.

Studied dosages of berberine range from 600 to 2,700 mg daily… although it’s most commonly taken as a 500-mg dose, three times daily (for a total of 1,500 mg daily).

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
