Even if you’ve been UP for hours…

You might not feel really AWAKE until you’ve had your coffee.

Some folks can’t even wait to get that first cup… and set their alarm to coincide with the coffeemaker!

If your coffee habit doesn’t stop with “the best part of waking up”… and you make daily “runs” to the local coffee shop or drive-thru…

There’s something you need to know.

There could be something DANGEROUS hiding in your favorite brew.

Getting “to-go” coffee may be quick… and convenient…

But it comes at a cost.

And I’m not talking about the sky-high prices of your favorite flavored lattes.

If word gets out about this… an entire segment of the coffee industry could find itself in hot water!

How do you take your coffee?

Believe it or not, you can trace the origins of the single-use, disposable coffee cup back over 100 years ago…

To the era of the Spanish Flu.

Before that, teetotalers who were trying to get people to STOP boozing all day… and START drinking more non-alcoholic beverages, like water and coffee… provided “communal cups.”

They even stationed themselves outside of bars and saloons.

But once the 1918-9 pandemic hit, the focus shifted to making everything more sanitary…

And folks wanted to throw EVERYTHING away… because EVERYTHING seemed contaminated.

Back then, the first paper cups were made out of exactly what it sounds like – paper.

But today’s “paper” coffee cups that you can get at convenience stores, delis, and even upscale coffeehouses are very different…

Because their insides are coated with plastic.

Now, that plastic coating helps keep the hot coffee from soaking through the paper and leaking out…

But it also could CONTAMINATE your drink!

In a brand-new study out of India, 10.2 billion tiny particles of microplastics were found in disposable cups of hot water after just 15 minutes of exposure.

The study’s lead author called the findings “startling.”

I’ll say!

Now, we’re not just talking about “plasticizer” compounds like di-isodecyl phthalate (DIDP), a known endocrine disruptor

But also TOXIC heavy metals like cadmium and lead!

Some research shows that milky coffee allows even MORE plastic to migrate into it… as some of these plastic toxics are fat-soluble.

And the HOTTER the coffee… the GREATER the amount of plastic that can leach into it.

That’s why it’s NEVER recommended to microwave your disposable coffee cup!

Somehow, though, putting BOILING-HOT beverages into it has gotten a hall pass.

But that DOESN’T mean it’s safe.

I’m not going to tell you to give up coffee if you love it… and if your doc has given you the green light to drink it.

All you need to do to keep enjoying your favorite hot beverage (including tea) is…

DITCH the plastic containers!

Experts suggest ceramic coffee mugs as your best option…

But you can also try one of those double-walled glass coffee cups that keep the heat in… without burning your hands.

To blowing the lid off toxic coffee,

Melissa Young

P.S. A cup of coffee could be hot enough to warp the plastic of something else – your dentures!
