Big Pharma wants to STAB your knee to erase OA pain
I’ve got to hand it to Big Pharma…
They’ve really got a way of COMPLICATING the simplest, most time-tested remedies… just so they can make a buck off them!
And they’re back at it – this time with a proven pain reliever that’s cheap, widely available, and safe.
So what do those drug execs do?
They make it potentially MORE expensive… HARDER to get… and SO painful, they’ve got to NUMB you first!
Now, they probably THINK they’ve hit the jackpot with their latest development…
But here’s why you should think TWICE about choosing a jab over a non-invasive, OTC remedy.
Which pepper therapy would you pick?
If you’ve enjoyed the “burn” from jalapeno… cayenne… or habanero peppers…
You’ve got Christopher Columbus to thank.
The popularity of these “hot” peppers (in the genus Capsicum) spread like… well, wildfire… when he brought some back to Europe with him after his “New World” explorations in the 15th century.
Now, the “fiery” component of chili peppers is a plant chemical called “capsaicin”…
And it’s TRANSCENDED traditional Caribbean and Latin American cuisine to become RENOWNED as a powerful pain reliever.
Its secret appears to be how it can REDUCE the sensitivity of certain pain receptors.
As I’ve shared with you before, in the case of neuropathy, it can STIMULATE nerve endings… and help RELEASE “feel good” hormones that send pain PACKING.
Those hormones… called endorphins… can also ELEVATE your mood.
And we here at HSI recommend topical capsaicin use for back pain as well as joint pain, too.
Well, the mainstream must be CONVINCED that capsaicin really does work…
Because Big Pharma is at it with another DRUG version of this natural cure!
You see, drug companies can’t make much money off a natural pepper extract… but they CAN patent a new-fangled delivery method.
That’s why they’ve already developed a super-concentrated patch for nerve pain.
And now, they’ve come up with a capsaicin INJECTION for chronic knee osteoarthritis.
Their theory is that injectable capsaicin targets local receptors to INACTIVATE pain at the source – that is, INSIDE your knee joint.
Sticking a long needle all the way in there, of course, means making an in-person visit to the doctor’s office.
Now you can see why they’ve got dollar signs in their eyes.
But this “therapy” doesn’t stop at ONE needle poke during that office visit…
Because the capsaicin injection could hurt so much, they’ve got to shoot an anesthetic (lidocaine) into you FIRST!
After those TWO shots… they’ve got to cool your knee down to relieve the post-injection pain!
And what’s really got them salivating is the prospect of DOUBLING DOWN on patients with pain in BOTH knees.
That’s FOUR injections you’ve got to WITHSTAND… and pay for…
Plus the copay of your doc visit, of course.
Now, studies have shown that a single capsaicin shot could relieve pain for as long as 6 months.
But is it worth the HASSLE of seeing your doc in person… or the INVASIVENESS of getting a needle shoved in your knee?
It’s too soon to tell. This injectable form of capsaicin is currently being studied in a Phase III clinical trial… so it’s not available yet.
But the FDA has fast-tracked this therapy… which means it could be coming soon.
Listen, I’m ALL for opioid-free, non-addictive pain relief.
Fortunately, it ALREADY exists for knee OA – and you don’t need a doctor’s appointment or a prescription for it!
Look for a capsaicin-based topical cream or ointment available over-the-counter at your local pharmacy or health food store.
To keep side effects (like pain!) at bay, the concentrations are relatively low… ranging 0.025% to 0.1%. That means you’ll have to use it more frequently than the injection… but you can also apply it only as needed.
If you’ve never tried capsaicin before, you can expect an initial burning sensation… which should fade with time (or you’ll just get used to it). Not everyone can tolerate it – so keep a close watch on your reactions.
To not turning your knee into a pincushion,
Melissa Young
