BOOST belly health and more with this ‘smoke flower’
With Labor Day Weekend coming up, I’m sure you’re already planning how to spend some quality time with loved ones – at a safe distance, of course.
And this year more than ever, that probably means firing up the outdoor grill.
But enjoying flame-broiled burgers… smoked meats… and more could make nagging digestive issues FLARE UP.
Especially if the quality of your diet has taken a hit with recent lockdowns.
Because your ability to shop for fresh food… or get any activity beyond your own backyard… has been RESTRICTED!
“Quarantine 15,” anyone?
Listen, we all get tummy aches and digestive upset every now and then. And often, the culprit is what we’re eating.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself on a holiday.
You can PROMOTE healthy digestion… and SUPPORT digestive health…
With the internationally renowned herbal tonic I’m about to share with you.
Smoke signals
Fumitory (Fumaria officinalis) is a plant in the poppy family whose flower petals have a “smoky” color palette… resembling fumes or plumes of smoke.
In the 13th century, it was nicknamed “smoke of the earth!”
But its vale goes way beyond its appearance… as it’s been known as a digestive aid since antiquity.
It’s still traditionally used as an herbal remedy in certain European countries. It’s even hit the MAINSTREAM in Austria!
But most Americans STILL haven’t caught wind of its digestive benefits.
And considering the way most Americans eat… we’re the ones who really need it!
The most common usages of fumitory are for bile duct and gall bladder complaints…
Including pain and cramping… stomach upset… nausea… and difficulty with digestion.
It can even help beat back gallstones!
The key seems to be in how it supports healthy bile flow – both in terms of how much bile your body is PRODUCING and how much bile it’s ELIMINATING.
On top of that, it also exerts antispasmodic activity on the smooth muscle of your GI tract… which can relieve the cramps that, in severe cases, could leave you DOUBLED OVER.
Through those 2 actions, fumitory helps address the root causes of your digestive discomfort.
And as the icing on the cake, it’s also got some sedative and pain-killing qualities, thanks to the presence of a plant chemical (a.k.a. alkaloid) called protopine.
That could certainly help calm things down in a chaotic gut… WITHOUT carrying the risks of most common pain pills.
In India, fumitory is known by its Hindi name, “pittapapada”
But an herbalist certified in folk medicine may recognize it better as parpataka… pitpapra… or shahtara.
That’s right – fumitory has also gained a following in the traditional medicinal practices of Ayurveda and Unani (a.k.a. Arab medicine).
Some folks like to ingest fumitory as an herbal tea… but you may also find its powdered extract in capsule form.
Research shows that up to 1500 mg per day can be safely taken — and for up to 18 weeks, although it should only take 2 or 3 weeks to RESOLVE your issues.
Its safety record in Europe is impeccable…
But just beware that it could have a laxative effect.
To fumigating your gut,
Melissa Young
