Health Sciences Institute: Diabetic nerve pain doesn’t need a dangerous remedy
If you’ve got type 2 diabetes, you’re probably more than familiar with one of the most painful, debilitating conditions out there.
Technically, it’s called “diabetic peripheral neuropathy,” but it’s better known as diabetic nerve pain. And it’s said that around half of those with type 2 will experience it.
There’s no doubt that the shooting, burning, pins-and-needles sensation in your feet (and hands as well) can throw a monkey wrench into your daily life. Walking the dog, playing with the grandkids… even running into the supermarket becomes a big ordeal.
You can become a prisoner in your own home!
But you don’t have to lose your independence and give up any of the activities you enjoy.
Because there are two amazing and safe treatments that can get you back on your feet again.
The first one, B12, is an inexpensive supplement you can find just about anywhere.
And since one of the world’s most commonly used diabetes drugs, metformin, has been linked to a deficiency in B12, there’s no doubt that a lack of this vitamin is an epidemic among those with type 2!
The second non-toxic treatment is about the cheapest supplement out there. In fact, it’s so cheap that on a sunny day, it’s free — Mother Nature’s gift to you.
That’s right — just allow the sun’s rays to warm your bare skin, and your body will make its own vitamin D!
And according to a recent study, vitamin D may be just what you need to chase away the nerve pain that accompanies diabetes.
Researchers from the University of Sheffield in the UK found that vitamin D levels in diabetics with nerve pain were almost half of those in healthy volunteers.
They also found significantly lower levels of vitamin D in pain-afflicted diabetics than in diabetics without nerve pain.
To the study authors, that was a “big deal.”
I’ll say!
Especially since the drugs used to treat diabetic nerve pain have so many potentially deadly adverse reactions that researchers wrote that they can “kill the pain but ‘kill’ the patient, too.”
Considering the availability of these two natural and safe treatments, it sure looks like FDA-approved meds for this kind of pain are a cruel joke.
One of them, Lyrica, is one of the most dangerous drugs on the planet. With side effects like swelling of the throat, head, and neck, “life-threatening respiratory compromise,” edema, and “suicidal behavior,” it’s a wonder it ever got approved in the first place!
While it’s easy enough to treat yourself with B12 and D, it may be a good idea to know what your levels are first.
That way, you and your doc can work on a plan to get them to where they need to be. And finding out is simple enough with a blood test.
That’s especially important since if you’re critically low in B12, you may need a high-dose injection to jump-start the process.
