Dear Reader,

Almost a century ago, the scientists who first invented insulin sold the patent to it for $3.

Their idea behind this rock-bottom price was that no one should ever be denied a drug that could save their life.

But that plan got hijacked by Big Pharma. And now, a single vial that cost under two bucks back in 1972 currently goes for around $300.

Yikes!

Unfortunately, many diabetics can no longer afford to buy enough insulin – and it’s not just those without insurance. At those prices, seniors can easily hit their Medicare cap on drug coverage before the year is up.

If you’re in the same boat, you might be inclined to try to ration your supply out to make it last longer.

But you should know that the results can be tragic. And you shouldn’t have to fork over all of your money… just to stay alive!

Fortunately, if you or a loved one depends on insulin, there are steps you can take to lower the cost.

Or better yet, reduce… or even eliminate… the need for shots entirely!

Otherwise, you might end up like Alec Raeshawn Smith. At just 26 years old, he didn’t get the insulin he needed and, as a result, died from diabetic ketoacidosis — a side effect of out-of-control blood sugar where acid builds up in your blood, slowly poisoning you.

Here’s what Alec didn’t know – and what every diabetic on insulin needs to hear!

When your pancreatic beta cells give up producing insulin, that’s not the end of the story. You don’t just have to give up on them.

In a recent study, Newcastle University scientists were able to not only restore beta cells in patients with type 2… but put the patients into complete remission!

And all they did to bring those beta cells back to life was put the patients on a strict, medically supervised low-calorie diet of nutritional shakes and soups for several months.

After that, they resumed a “normal” healthy way eating and stayed in remission… no drugs required!

To control your blood sugar without so many restrictions, try the Mediterranean diet. It’s an amazingly healthy way of eating that emphasizes fruits, veggies, lots of olive oil, and fish while cutting way down on sweets and red meat.

And it’s been shown to reverse type 2 diabetes!

But what if you absolutely need insulin, such as people with type 1 diabetes? There are actually a number of ways to get it at reduced prices or receive assistance in paying for your Rx.

A non-profit called Patient Access Network (PAN) specializes in helping seniors on Medicare cover out-of-pocket costs for insulin and other drugs. And the Affordable Insulin Project can help you find discounts from drugmakers.

Drugs are often far from the only answer to a long list of health problems. But when they are, being able to pay for them should be the least of your worries.

To Knowing Your Options,

Melissa Young

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
