There are plenty of things you can bone up on when it comes to protecting your health.

But if you’re in the dark about sepsis, you could be putting yourself and your loved ones in grave danger.

Sepsis can hit people of all ages and turn deadly before you know it. That’s why it’s urgent to know the warning signs of this condition, and, more importantly, how it can be successfully treated.

The problem is that an awful lot of doctors are still unaware that there’s a lifesaving cure available.

Knowing what to look out for

St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California, has what are being called a “new breed” of nurses — ones who specialize in identifying patients at risk for sepsis. And since the condition is now taking the lives of up to 500,000 Americans a year, I’d say it’s about time.

Basically, sepsis occurs when the body overreacts to an infection. If not treated in its early stages, it can quickly become severe, leading to septic shock.

And that’s one of the big problems with sepsis — nipping it in the bud, before it has a chance to overwhelm you.

While it might seem like sepsis is only a problem in hospitals, you can come down with it at home, too. All it takes is an infection, such as pneumonia or a UTI — two of the most common ones associated with the condition.

That’s why it’s so important to know the top four warning signs:

Sepsis symptom #1: A fever over 101˚F or a body temperature that falls below 96.8 ˚ F.

Sepsis symptom #2: A rapid pulse over 90 beats a minute, with fast breathing.

Sepsis symptom #3: Red, swollen tissue that’s extremely painful.

Sepsis symptom #4: A drop in blood pressure and confusion that can worsen quickly.

If you or a loved one are having any of those symptoms, this isn’t the time to be shy. Ask your doctor if it could be sepsis.

The basic treatment that most doctors use is a combination of IV antibiotics and fluids. And yes, that does save some lives. But wouldn’t it be great if even more lives could be saved?

Well, they can be.

Just a few months ago, I broke the news to you about Dr. Paul Marik, a doctor in Norfolk, Virginia, who has been giving people with sepsis another chance at life. And he’s done it by simply combining three ingredients — high-dose vitamin C and a low dose of steroids and thiamin (a.k.a. vitamin B1), all delivered through an IV.

Ordinarily, the sepsis mortality rate can be as high as 50 percent. But Dr. Marik has treated around 150 patients this way, and so far, he’s only lost one.

The doctor’s experiences in successfully treating sepsis using this life-saving “cocktail” have just been published in the journal CHEST, so hopefully more ER doctors — and even good old general “family” practitioners — will now learn about it.

But since this isn’t some cure that Big Pharma stands to make a billion on and will let every doctor in the world know about, we can’t just depend on that. Even Dr. Marik noted that no one “is going to make money from this.”

And he’s right. All it can do is save lives!

As an eAlert reader, you’ve no doubt heard many stories about how effective high-dose IVC can be. Many alternative doctors (and even some big hospitals such as the University of Iowa’s Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center) are using it right now to treat cancer. So, it’s really not a huge surprise that it can battle sepsis, too.

But we need to get the word about this lifesaving treatment out to as many people as possible. So, please take a moment and forward this eAlert to your friends and relatives.

That simple act might just save a life.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
