It’s a devastating condition that strikes around one out of ten women – even adolescent girls.

It’s called “PCOS,” and while the most obvious symptoms may seem to be in a woman’s ovaries, this syndrome can affect every part of her body, especially insulin levels. And that can lead right to a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.

Now, there’s been a new discovery — a compound that may make all the difference for these women.

It isn’t a drug, but rather a natural food ingredient that you can easily find in supplement form.

And it’s also something that has been found to be remarkably effective in treating conditions ranging from fibromyalgia to Alzheimer’s to diabetes in men and women of all ages!

The power of grapes

PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) can be simply described as a hormonal imbalance that can strike at a young age and stay with a woman her entire life. But that is really all you can say about it that’s simple.

Because symptoms of PCOS can include ovarian cysts, infertility, excess hair growth that can be on the face and belly area, severe and persistent acne and extreme weight gain.

And it can make a woman more susceptible to numerous other conditions including liver disease, hypothyroidism, sleep apnea, heart disease, high blood pressure and especially diabetes. In fact, women with PCOS are seven times more likely to develop diabetes.

Women keep getting the same advice from doctors over and over. And at best, medications don’t work. At worst, they chance terrible side effects from some very risky drugs.

But as far as useful treatments go, there really aren’t any.

Until now.

Researchers in an international study, which included doctors from the University of California in San Diego, recently wrapped up the first trial to test the effects of resveratrol on PCOS.

That’s right, resveratrol. The compound found in red grapes that’s said to be what’s behind the “French Paradox.” It was called that because the French have a low rate of heart disease and obesity while they have a diet super high in fat – but one that includes red wine!

Of course, the women in this trial weren’t being tested with lots of wine, but with high-potency resveratrol supplements. And what the researchers found is that resveratrol can “moderate the hormone imbalance that is one of the central features of PCOS.”

On top of that, the women in the study who were given resveratrol had fasting insulin numbers that dropped by over 30 percent! And that’s extremely important considering the diabetes risk that comes along with this condition.

If this was the one and only amazing benefit found out about resveratrol that would be wonderful news all on its own. But it’s far from it.

For example, this summer I told you about research out of Georgetown University Medical Center, where a double-blind study found that resveratrol was able to slow down – even halt – the progression of Alzheimer’s.

Then, just a few months ago, Georgia State University scientists discovered that resveratrol can prevent one of the biggest triggers for respiratory diseases, including COPD.

Then there’s diabetes.

Probably more research has been done with resveratrol and diabetes than anything else – with exciting results every time.

Several years ago, researchers found that resveratrol supplements can be as effective for those with type 2 diabetes as “front line antidiabetic drugs.” And a study from China found the compound “significantly improves” glucose control and insulin sensitivity in diabetics.

If you’re looking to get more resveratrol in your diet, it’s naturally found in peanuts, dark chocolate, red grapes, and red wine. But, of course, we can (or should!) only have so much chocolate and wine.

And that’s where a high-quality resveratrol supplement comes in. They are easy to find and generally not very expensive. Look for one made from Japanese knotweed or red grapes (some contain both).

Considering that the typical drugs given to PCOS patients can cause migraines, liver and heart disease — and aren’t even terribly effective — these newest findings should be very important news to a lot of women.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
